One of the most interesting things I have so far seen and admired from this video of Bungoma of Kenya is cleanliness. It's as if you toured Nairobi. I am a Kenyan who has never been to Bungoma. You are home because the people of the region are actually from Uganda. I can see your Kiswahili is improving. I was shocked that most Ugandans don't fancy Kiswahili for various reasons. I think there are currently a lot of advantages with having a basic understanding of Kiswahili as we get more connected. Thank you for showing us.

There is some stigma and trauma towards Kiswahili in Uganda because during the generation of our parents their oppressors used Kiswahili as an intimidation tactic and we were raised on the teachings that... "whoever you meet speaking Kiswahili is a thief or means you harm" So our generation stared away from learning it. By the time we came to the understand that it was no true, it was perceived late for some to start learning it. But now it's in most schools and it's well recieved. As a Pan Africanist who does not believe in the colonial borders, Kiswahili is integral for our unity.

Thanks for touring Bungoma town, my home county. When you visit any new places I think it is important to take bodaboda ride and tour the town. That way you are able to cover a larger area in a short time than walking. Just ask a boda guy to take you around the town.

I'm happy to see back in kenya in a different way, Ug connect. I remember you missing sgr to mombasa. Welcome sebo and feel at home. "Harriet the traveller" is also doing well in kisumu. Bungoma is a county headquarters and is not a city yet. We only have four cities: Nairobi, mombasa, kisumu, and eldoret. Eldoret was recently elevated to a city status. You should have said kiswahili yangu sio nzuri instead of fupi. We use "fupi" when describing distance. HUDUMA means service in swahili, so "huduma Centre" simply means one stop shop for government services.My regards to the people from the Parl of Africa who are watching.

The Bukusu are part of a group of tribes known as the Luhya who speak closely related languages. The Bagisu are by extension part of this tribe(Luhya). Circumcision in Bukusu culture is undertaken from the beginning to the end of August of every even year. This is exactly the same as with the Bagisu.

See, actually, Bukusu are just one part of the large luyha community. Luyha live predominatly in the Western part of Kenya. The entire community has 18 distict sub-tribes. However, the bukusu people are the largest regarding population. While these sub-tribes understand each other, there are some differences. The differences are few among luyha tribes from the same county. For instance, the luyha people of Busia county (such as manyala, samia, marachi, and wakhayo) have very few differences, with the variations mainly emerging in their accents. Also, me being a manyala, I often perceive so many similarities between our language and some Ugandan dialects (I cant tell which ones). Sometimes, I listen to Ugandan music sang in local dialects and I understand everything. We are indeed one people.
