Thank you for your work, but you have failed to mention that you need to be top dead center on the crankcase and the motor should be warm when adjustments of the Cam's.. but great luck with that. Robert jr NJ here and the pine barrens XR 650 owner and truther United States.

Use a pair of vice grips to take Allen bolts out like on your intake.

Why didn't you just unscrewed those seized bolts with a damn pair of pliers ?! I've had the same problem on the same bolts on the same bike, with the motor in the frame. Took 2 minutes.

Why grind them off?????? what if they were still stuck after grinding off the head? i always just cut slots and use an impact screwdriver its full proof

them carb flange bolts i would of used molegrips on outside of bolt head

hey! Do you have any useful info about increasing the power of the FMX engine? In my country Honda used to sell a tuning kits along with the brand new FMX bikes (high compr. piston, new cam, rejetted carb). But it's not available anymore and they can not help me out with any information about these upgrade parts. Can you fit 11:1 compression ratio XR650R piston in the FMX maybe? And what about the another camshaft?

to my mind, the later 650's had a different camshaft to earlier models (think peak power went down from 44bhp to 39, but possibly more torque. YOu'll need to check). Maybe start with using the cam from an earlier model. I'm also sure there's a dynojet kit available. You should be able to give it some more useful power with a different cam, wiseco/wossner piston, k&n dynojet and new exhaust. could have the head ported and gasflowed too. depends how far you want to go. Also worth looking on the xrv forum

Also you may consider getting a standard tool set.. apparently your socket set Is a Chinese one and not recommended. But best wishes mate
