This is actually my own personal favorite rod for inshore fishing with soft plastics. Rigged with a 2500 series reel with 10lb braid, I've caught everything from trout, redfish, flounder, bass and many more and it's so light that it's great when you're casting all day long and it's sensitive enough to where you can really dial in the action of your lure. Definitely would recommend if you're looking for a good light to medium heavy action, all around rod. Tight lines 🤙

I have the 6ft medium heavy with a Diawa Regal 3000 reel and 15lb braid and I love that for fishing in a thick swampy creek either from the bank or a kayak. Works the bass rigs great, especially top waters and Texas rigs and I can rig it for catfish if I want and it's plenty stout. The other rod I take is a 5'6 Shakespeare Micro light action rod with a Shimano Sienna 1000 reel and 6lb mono. Makes the pan fish and smaller bass feel like a fun fight but can also haul in the unexpected larger bass and catfish. It's great for things like beetle spins and jerk baits too. Landed a 6lb bowfin with that this weekend.

I bought the 1166-1M Lite Pro yesterday afternoon. I plan to use it for Bass. The rod feels really good. Heading to the ponds tomorrow. I also own a SPL 1102 6'. I'm using Daiwa BG 10's with 8 lb test on both. I've owned a few Ugly stik's over the past 30 years and for me they are a bargain high medium level rod. Los Angeles

Corey hello great review. I fished an Ugly Stik GX2 (lite power) rod for a couple years. I saw your review of it and I bought one at the Cabela's Outpost near where I live. I paired it with a KastKing Sharky II 1500 and it served me well for over 2 years as a good, dependable multi-species rod. I caught bass, bluegill, warmouth, catfish, trout, lots of different fish on it. Most on 6 lb mono. It was my primary rod for fishing for stocked rainbow trout using powerbait. I also caught some of my first bass using a topwater frog on it too. Was it too lite? Probably so but it worked. It's now in the possession of my youngest nephew who loves to fish too. Tight lines

Thanks for the feedback, Dee. I've been testing lots of rods and it's really hard to beat that 6' light GX2 as an all-purpose rod. I still use both of my regularly. The Sharky reels started to show some serious wear after 2 years, but mine are still functioning and they get occasional use still. I need to do an update review on those. But, when you figure someone can get that whole set-up for $80 and catch 80% of fish in any given body of water, it's not a bad deal. I have some more reviews coming from stuff we've been using the past couple of years. So stay tuned!

I bought two of the ugly stick pro light 7 foot medium heavy rods. It seems they only sell them at Walmart now I haven’t use them a whole lot yet but the medium heavy version is an absolute beast. I did catch a 18 pound flat head on it, no problem whatsoever. I know people laugh at me for buying that ugly stick, but those are just a good solid affordable rod.

Thanks for the awesome content Team Cramer.. These older styled rods are at my local walmart and new revised version is now hitting the shelves. From what I gather they are a Walmart exclusive. The new revised version reminds me of my ugly stik E lite down to the matte black finish..

The more I use this rod, the more I love it. Especially for bigger fish. I had the biggest fish of my life on this 7' medium action a couple weeks ago and it handled it no problem (video coming soon). You probably need a fish over 30 lbs before it really starts testing the rod. Yet, the rod isn't heavy and it's just as much fun catching smaller fish, too. I might have to check out the new versions. I've been using a 6' Elite medium for a couple of months now and it's pretty nice too, but I the like the longer upper part of the handgrip better on the Lite Pro because it's bigger, so when you need extra leverage on the bigger fish there is something to hang on to. Thanks so much for watching the channel!

They still sell them and the reel gets threaded from the top so they fixed your original complaint. It's a great rod I had one for 10 yes and finally needed to replace because my son broke it slamming a door on it. Great review I agree with it in every way

Just picked up the ELITE Salmon/Steelhead rod (9ft M) other than the reel seat (bottom nut) love the rod. Penn Battle 3 4k on it. Am going to try some large heat shrink tubing over the reel seats. Am a lefty, and always loosening the nut just by holding it. Quite irritating, but not just an ugly stik issue.

I have a few of the Elite models too but they dont have as much backbone as the GX2. Even though the ELite is lighter I still prefer the GX2 for walleye jigging because of the stiffer backbone, which allows me to set the hook better and faster and I also feel the GX2 is just as sensitive for feeling the bottom when jigging.. The only positive thing about the ELite is that its lighter and has a cork handle, otherwise I much prefer the GX2
