I'm proud to have been raised in Metro Detroit MI, where Jews and Arabs have peacefully coexisted since ~1920. So many of the two ethnic groups are as close as siblings. The many Jewish people that I've known (as friends) have been sympathetic to Palestinians. Personally, I much more blame the Evangelical extremists for the imbalance and tensions in the Middle East.

Yeah, if you look at the history of Zionism, it actually started with the Church. Only in the late 19th century/ early 20th did it get used for political ends by the Jews themselves - but they were actually secular. Suggested reading on this subject: anything written by Israeli Historian Ilan Pappé. I hope one day I find that Thom Hartman had interviewed him. Cheers!

As long as there are still powerful, rich people and groups with great influence who cry antisemitism at any valid criticism of Israeli policies, the situation will not improve (at least as long as these particular Zionist groups are able to destroy the political careers of anyone who dares express concern for the tens of thousands of innocent Palestinian civilians slaughtered so far since last October). I know a Jew who feels very bad about the situation in Israel currently, and I know that she and many other Jews around the world are horrified by all of what is continuing to go on.
