Can you react to YA YA from Beyonce. It's an old southern Rock song like the types of songs that black artists in the 50's to the 60's used to sing in the Chitlin show circuits because of segregation..the they weren't allowed to play in certain venues. They traveled in safe routes and played in small black towns: Tina Turner (Bey's idol and who I think she channeled for this song). James Brown and the Jackson 5 used to play them until they all got bigger and could play in bigger venues.

As someone who listens to both genres I have the opposite opinion. I often find Country lyrics far more relatable to everyday people compared to rap lyrics. The lyrics in country songs are far closer to being our real lives than the lyrics of rappers flexing their lavish lifestyles ever could be. Those lyrics about endless money and endless excess aren't relatable to the everyday person and never have been. Less than 1% of people actually live that lifestyle so how could it ever be considered relatable? (I know that's not all rap lyrics but it has became a large part of today's commercial rap lyrics). Country lyrics, more often than not, are deeply rooted in _universal experiences_ that most people can relate to, and much more grounded in the lives of everyday working people. Having said that, I understand if you grow up in the city and struggle to relate to somebody singing about living/growing up in a rural small town.

Yes , we might like all kind of music but not relate to all, sometimes musically sometimes liricly. Now is the fact the we can't relate a reason to not listen? I don't think so.I grew up with all sorts of music, most of it from far away from me, from my environment and for sure all of adult artist so little to do with my age ... But I loved the music, sometimes the voices, sometimes the energy, can be all kind of things as long as the music suited my mood:) Is true that now, as an adult I'm more selective, especially with the lirical part, as to relate it doesn't have to be about my life.. that is also a way to see things from others pov, to put yourself in their shoes, to know more about the world about life out of your circle
