Completely agree. Mindset during the match is actually one of the biggest things that can cause you to be able to make a comeback or to lose a lead. Good video Adam!

Armada, you're pretty much the father the Melee community needs. You're always trying to make sure we do our best at the game. Thanks again for the tips.

For me sometimes I actually get better when I get mad while I play a game cause my mind usually gets distracted thinking about other things while I play, and when I get irritated I tend to be more focused on what’s happening in the game rather than wondering what to eat for breakfast tomorrow morning. Getting mad can still backfire on me though cause if I feel defeated or only focus on how stupid I think my opponent or the game is at time then it actually makes me play worse. In the end though it’s really just important to keep a level head and not let the anger get the best of you.

Personally, when I compete midset and I have a large lead, I put myself in their shoes and think "if I were them I would try to make the sickest comeback" everytime

Thanks for bringing this up Armada. When losing we often get stuck in the past thinking of the mistake and maybe get frustrated , or when we are ahead we think ahead like the battle is over and get complacent. Its kind of the natural tendency of the mind to stretch out like this, avoiding the present. You're advice reminds me of a meditation technique to recognize that there is only now, the current instance in time is all that really exists and the future and past are just projections of the mind. Ergo it's very important to remember to breath to maintain presence of mind especially in competition. I have to say Armada, your videos on mentality are really great and it doesn't just apply to video games but all aspects of life, thanks for making them, i find them super helpful and inspiring.

1) Don't think of quitting when losing in a set or game (keep going) 2) Don't get caught up in winning (play seriously at times in which it seems favorably one-sided ) 3) Don't dwell over mistakes (readjust to one's own actions as well as the opponent's )

my mindset is more of a problem when im ahead. I start to think 'im about to win' and then i throw the game, any advice?
@im_Spade_7 жыл бұрын
James Watrud He basically said stop thinking like that. Pretend like you are on your last stock even if it's your first stock if you have to. Don't give up because your opponent might do 100x better on their last stock and strip you of that victory.
