Thanks for sharing your truth on what did and didn’t work! That kind of honesty is sadly rare in the SHTF community, where everyone wants to be Rambo. I’m located sort of in the middle of the country, which gives me lots of routes of egress (but other challenges of course). If I was in a place like Florida with such an intense funnel for evacuation, I would seriously consider getting a pilot’s license. Other than the expense, with your previous experience, it might not be too hard to do.
