Clubs back then had such a different atmosphere then today. They were much more fun and there was much less tension between the sexiest. It’s hard to explain but the 80’s and much of the 90’s was more about living then what we see today. We just wanted to have a good time with good drink, food and a lovely companion. There was none of the distraction of technology or social networks or ... it was about the person in front of you, we lived much more in the moment I guess.

Vice did a documentary on this song. The violin on this song was written by Bruce Duckov (he's played in the Star Wars OSTs among other things), but he made the melody of the violin based on humming from Sisqo and some of his own interpretations. Eleanor Rigby was the original sample used by the producers for the beats etc, but it was on the cover by Wes Montgomery, but the original one didn't have the violin. Sisqo contacted Bruce in order to get the violin part in it.

Oh wow! This came out when I was in high school... Definitely a jam! And it changed what people thought about thongs. They were mostly associated with strippers before this song but afterwards more woman started wearing them and they became available in most stores. Previously you would’ve only been able to get them at certain types of stores. If I remember correctly, this was Sisqo’s debut single. Before this he was a member of the group Dru Hill.

Just thinking about when this song came out I was 36yrs old. My two children was singing this song one day and I got them good to the point where it would give them nightmares. 1999. This song was MASSIVE everywhere, it was a literal ANTHEM. I was a broke 19 year old sophomore in college who scraped up a few bucks with her girls to get gas/pay tolls go to a club, Club Abyss in Sayerville, NJ for the record lol. Once at the club I managed to get a tattoo and to win the 'Thong Contest'. I believe I won like $400-500 and you think the broke college kid would have saved it and used it for practical things...nope, I bought everyone in that downstairs hip hop level of the club a round of shots. Ricky Martin wanted to sue for the use of the "Livin the Vida Loca", but because he didn't have the rights to the lyrics Ricky did not win a court case.
