My grandpa got a brand new gold one when I was 2. It’s the first car I can remember besides my parent’s VW bug. Always loved driving with him to the post office, gas station and horse racing track!

My dad bought a 1963 SS 327-300 with factory dash tach, 4speed in 1964, same color as the one you are working on. He kept it for 9 years sold it to his brother then I bought it from him. I kept it for a while then sold it to my neighbor, he kept it for 49years then he sold it to my brother who had it a few months, then he sold it to a man in California to be restored. It was a very beautiful car when my dad first bought it.

In 2003 I bought my second 1963 Chevrolet Impala. This was a Super Sport ,409 , 340 H.P. Powerglide , Matching numbers California car with 63,000 original miles . Kept this one for 5 yrs.

Fun to watch the restoration of this Chevy, Back in the 70's I would buy a lot of this kind of metal cheep, fix them up some and sell them for a part time job. This stuff was plentiful and cheap to buy. Example, I bought a 69 Chevelle convertible, one owner 4 speed car with 100K miles for $600.00. Had faded paint and motor smoked, no rust.

You are tickling my heartstrings. As I said previously, my first new car was a 63 Impala SS with the 300 hp 327, 4 speed Muncie trans and 4:11 posi. So, you are showing me stuff that I worked on way back then in 63. My car ran in the high 13's at 105 mph. Never beaten on the street.

Be still my heart!..Had 1 just like it in cordovan brown. 327, 300 hp, stone crusher 4-spd, dual exh, F-41 suspension package Total cost = $2,800. Worked for Grody Chev in the parts dept. Eventually added Doug's headers, Crane cam, solid lifters, 302 manifold. 780 Holley, Lakewood chassis bellhousing/blowshield, Tractionmasters, American Torque Thrust whls,..the whole magilla. Built my own shifter a la Grumpy Jenkins, used 3 spd Hurst and separate lever for reverse. Clutchless power shifting @ 8.7 K rpm. Back in the day ('68) it could run 1/4 13:25 @ 112. I loved that car. Like what you're doing to this car. Wish I was 60 yrs younger. Liked & subbed at 2.41 K now, good luck.

I wish you were in Arizona, it's hard to find a mechanic who works on older Chevy engines. I have a 1970 impala Custom and have had the worst luck in finding a honest and knowledgeable mechanic, very frustrating. And that 63 is my dream car, very nice!

Love the car. I just drug home a 64 myself in similar shape. Hasnt ran since 07 etc. Ended up having a mild 400sb/th400 in it. Anyways, it has some 80s aluminum wheel I hate on it. I'm torn between factory SS caps, rallys or cragars etc. Just curious, what size tires did you go with? I have a set of 14x6 wheels I could stick on it with the factory caps.
