The punishment for taling asword in a chirch is death. This is wjy father Beyoka was trying to stop Utreth and Alfred has actually given him life. Alfred is a great character. One of the best in the show.

Abba is a beast. He’s also a decade older compared to when Uhtred first saw him. A bit slower, mentally messed with by Uhtred, story wise it was beautifully done and Uhtred defeated one of his idols in a sense. Great storytelling

Well technically this IS Ubbe/Ubba, aka Ragnar's son. In real life, Ubbe/Ubba came to England as a Viking general during the great heathen invasion. Vikings sorta gives him a bit of a fantasy story. Whereas TLK told a story closer to the reality 😌

Im sure you two thought about this. But When Uhtred bursts into the room and confronted Alfred and Young Odda, he was disrespecting a holy ceremony. Obviously he is upset because ppl were disregarding him and dismissing the fact that he had just killed Ubba and saved Wessex. But what he did was culturally wrong. He has the right to defend and argue his point but it should have been done elsewhere. Also Uhtred drew his sword uncommanded in front of the King, which is against the law and would have earned him a Death sentence. But Alfred chose to spare him. So even though the humiliation ritual is frustrating, Alfred literally chose not to kill him. Alfred is not a saint, but its just something to think about. Uhtred keeps doing things that would earn a death sentence or heavy punishment for any other warrior and yet Alfred keeps forgiving Uhtred. Just a thought to consider.
