Using the Transition Trigger is pointless here, just put the calculation in the Condition directly.

We definitely can put something in there for sure. That was the near term intent of this video. A more solid use case must be discovered or hypothesized to justify why a state machine has to do something "inside of a transition" that it cannot do once it transitions into a state.
