This is a great move, BUT...this game world looks rough. They need more foliage in general...alot more, along with some texture smoothing. I am really amazed on how absolutely horrible this looks, and there has to be an actual good reason for why. It probably wouldn't be too far off to believe that they started designing this game originally for mobile devices, and then when it was backed into being a console game just decided to just keep the originally designed world while upping the polygon count and calling it a day.

That's exactly what a 360 video is my dude.... I can tell that you're new to this AWESOME video format. Try looking for the old Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade 360 vids. The first two 360 releases were published on KZbin. (After that, Verizon got greedy and basically locked to 5G phones compatible to thier app... I'm still waiting for another chance to watch it live in 360 once again.... Watching it on TV just isn't the same. I want to spin around like an stargazed idiot during the ads, dang it!) There's also a cool example made by Element Animation. They basically made a functional version of Pokémon Snap in KZbin, but with a Minecraft theme instead. (You can take screenshots with mobile devices.) KZbin's got a whole category for 360 video.

This is a pretty cool idea, but... it really showcases the lacking graphics more than anything else. I know, I know, Pokémon has never been about top tier graphics, but it's 2022 and the trees have polygons hanging off them instead of leaves. This game has massive potential, but it looks like it won't be able to live up to it. Still looks better than SWSH though, so at least there's some progress.

@@gamingblastoise7959 Oh, I absolutely agree graphics aren't everything; I'm still leaning towards buying the game (after skipping gen 8 and bdsp) because there are other gameplay elements that look genuinely interesting and fun! But saying the graphics and overall look of the game is up to the industry standard, especially coming from the biggest franchise in the world, would be an outright lie, and that saddens me. I'm pretty convinced the game will be enjoyable - in fact, it might be a much needed breath of fresh air for the series, and has the potential to turn out amazing in many aspects! And I can only imagine how mind-blowing it would all be combined with, you know, graphics from 2022 rather than 15 years prior. I want Pokemon games to be the best they can be, and I'd say the fans have been extremely forgiving in many ways for the past 20+ years (we've more or less been buying the same game with a new coat of paint over and over again, lol), so I don't think wishing "man, this looks cool but it'd be nice if it looked like a switch game like BotW or Genshin" (the latter isn't on switch yet, but it's a mobile game and still has fantastic graphics) is THAT big of a request from a big title like this. It's not that a game with bad graphics cannot be enjoyed (and I wouldn't say Legends looks bad, just... mediocre and unpolished), it's that it could have been something way better given the hardware it's running on. And I don't imagine for people who don't care either way better graphics would take away from the experience, so it's win-win for everyone. On a side note, I think X/Y graphics were way better than those of gen 7/8 because I personally find the real-like scaling of characters to look awful and it led to the unfortunate "corridor simulator" syndrome and lack of actual dungeons to explore, which I imagine is what a lot of people have an issue with.

It does say it's not the gameplay footage, after all, and while some of the early trailers had some issues (those framerate drops, my god), it does seem like they've managed to make it a smooth experience overall. We'll see how it turns out, but I do have high hopes for this entry. It would be fantastic if they could make it look gorgeous on top of it, but I'll take a good, enjoyable game first and foremost. I think we can all agree that's the most important thing!

This trailer just confirms my biggest worries. As much as I appreciate gamefreak doing something different with the pokemon games, this game looks just bland. No landmarks, no highlights in the overworld, nothing that makes me as the player go in a certain direction. Focusing on the past, they could’ve brought in so much lore and tradition (Shrines, temples, statues, smaller locations...) Even jubilife village is just houses placed on the overworld. There is no love for detail in this game (for now, including the leaks that I watched) which is really sad to see because there is so much potential in this game, to really go full in on the story for once and put effort into a detailed and charming world that makes me want to come back for more.

That was so much fun, I’m now even more pumped for when this games comes out. I definitely felt like I was in the game. Imagine if Gamefreak was making Legend of Arcues not only free roaming, first person as well! I’m still fine with just the free roaming mechanic. I just hope it lives up to all its hype

I want to love this game but the fly over and how the landscape looked was just terrible. Nothing was rendered in except trees, the mountains look gross, and it was just empty. I really hope they improve upon it before it releases.

Yes the graphics are shit But do you see how seamless everything in the game is? From riding to flying, to catching to battling. collecting and exploring - Gamefreak had to step back in order to provide a giant leap in gameplay If they continue building on this skeleton, the Legends series will be the fan favourite easily. This is the gen 1 of open world pokemon. Monster hunter meets breath of the wild in the pokemon DNA.

But I don't see the graphics as shit?? Like ok they're not fucking 4k, 360hz But they look good enough to have fun with. People need to stop thinking that Graphics = a good game. So many people loved Goldeneye 64, the original Pokemon games, the PS1 and og Xbox. Stop comparing the graphics to the gameplay, that's not how videogames work (at least not for most people)
