Europe, and/or NATO as a whole, could do sooooo much more than it is. If it's regarded that defending Ukraine is more than just doing the Ukrainians a favour (ie it's about n both Europe's and the West's security), then why should only Ukrainian soldiers be fighting the Russians? We need to start acting as though we are actively participating in this war, and with there being a great risk to Europe and the West. Ther'e would appear to be a bit of deja vu with WW2, in that there's an monstrous evil adversary that won't go away and won't stop, and cannot be trusted and cannot be negotiated with.

The vast majority of what the people want (such as a reduction in in immigration both legal and nonlegal) or don't want are ignored. As much as people sympathise with Ukraine and their people, they don't want to send their sons to fight in a war which has its roots partly in NATO expansionism. People are living here in poverty. Why is that? Lockdowns and this war have pushed prices up beyond alot of people's means. We know the only people who benefiting from this war are the weapons manufacturers and those with share portfolios to compliment. If we have learnt nothing else in the 8yrs since Brexit, Trump, covid, the vax and Afghanistan is that the West is not paragon of virtue. Quite the contrary our so called leaders couldn't give a stuff about what we want. It game and a dangerous illusion that at this rate could cost millions of lives.

Legal migration numbers are fueled largely by students bringing family members here with them nothing new about it and the universities will argue they'd go out of business without them leading to job losses...will any government be able to do anything about it? It's a complex issue. Illegal immigrants would require the UK leaving the human rights courts and that won't be popular with many, just look at the problem sending them to Rwanda. Another problem to deport them to their home country requires travel documents which are notoriously difficult to get. Who is asking people from the UK to fight in Ukraine? NATO expansion? Have you spent 5 minutes wondering why so many former Soviet Republics and Warsaw pact countries joined NATO? The issue with Ukraine is Putin doesn't see it as a country he's said so on several occasions. NATO expansion was a excuse not the reason and he now has not only the Baltic States on his border but Finland too. And who began the war that's driving prices up? Weapons manufacturers didn't start the war so I don't see your point. Cost millions of lives...why you haven't been fooled by Russian propaganda. The click bait title is just plain silly and Crump does not even say much the UK. TR does him a disservice -- not that he says much of sense on this occasion but is one of the better second rate pundits working for a fluffy "institute" or "consultancy", all making money from this war. Crump accurately notes that Russia is conscious of taking personnel losses and he obviously knows that the numbers committed to the buffer zone took account of this possibility. This doesn't mean that they will not take measures to eradicate tougher knots of AFU viable units using air power. It is quite easy to see the purpose of the 'buffer zone' and how it will be a siege of the city at a distance. This used to be called a 'blockade' but missiles can jump the older ways and probably will. Russia wants to clear AFU and irregulars from proximate villages and test what direct defences the city has or is prepared to use. Kharkiv and Moscow have been in this situation scores of times through history and deals are usually done, for the simple reason that the highly productive '2nd city' needs Russian railways to export its wares. Interestingly, new rail links in both Kharkiv and Sumy begun in 2021 and and centering of Kursk evidently remain undamaged. In the absence of a straighter link through Donbas for over 10 years of Kiev negligence and warlord chaos, the north east productive cities found internal railways to be inadequate even before February 2022 and used Russia's network to the eastern markets. The north east alongside the east Black Sea ports and ship building cities accounted for over 60% of Ukraine's GDP, not counting the mainly Russian (etc) consortia ownership of the grain production. Russia commission grain ships and there all year maintenance from Ukraine until the Minsk talks failed. It is useful to see the north east cities as being Ukrainian but not harmonious with the Rep of Ukraine Kiev 'city state' policies and this will be a post-war building block when the now illegal Zelenskyy regime is swept away. Continuing to send weapons to be used by the regime does not help Ukraine's actual people by prolonging a sticky and bloody conflict now "allowed" by Blinken and Cameron to spill into Russia in pinpricks which, sadly, appear to target Russian civilians in border cities. Neither man has a moral compass or experience of much except trickery. Russia will prevent new weapons from reaching 'the battlefield' by eroding the transport options either side of the Dnieper River. It does not, at this stage , need to hit near Poland and Kiev but has shown that it can. Always be wary of apparent inactivity in branches of armed forces. We British of a certain age who grew up among the bomb sites of WW2 know this rather well from our late parents.
