The world is changing, I'm not a communist, and I believe that there has to be a reward for hard work and innovation, and that includes for people who aren't billionaires or millionaires, or just good at sitting around and investing thier money well. I am poorest of the poor. I have no family to help me. I have nobody, I am isolated. I am now eating twice a week, and still, my electric goes up. £1.16 every day even before I put kettle on for my 1st cup of tea of the day. I am disabled and diagnosed with serious mental exhaustion. For the forgotten few like myself, UC is not enough. The Council has just increased my apartment service charge by £36 a month. This charge is not covered by UC. I have no idea how I am going to pay for it but I do not use Gas 9 months of the year as I am mainly electric, so, I do not understand this added new charge anyway. I have never been in debt, but I refuse to go into debt. I will continue to pay these costs out of my very low food budget. If the government will not deal with these profits that would hughly benefit poorest of the poor like me, then the government has signed my Death Warrent. I will not eat but I will pay my bills because going on the street will kill me anyway. People moan about welfare people, but I did not choose to be this unwell & I did not choose to be born into this life of constant heartbreak. Even the BBC ignores us, forgetting people.

@@ricchrono5907 it's because the profit they are making is a percentage of gas prices. so as the price of the market goes up, the profits follow. The regulators ofgem, certainly can limit the amount of profit that flows through, and minimise the impact to the customers. But they have done nothing it seems. they should have either put a profit limit, or decreased the percentage that they are allowed to make. it's already more than enough to maintain their assets. And yes they are a private company so they should be able to make a profit but within reason. If they want to operate in our country then they're going to have to stick to the rules we lay out, the government have that power to set them, but they just seem incompetant in handling this whole thing. The general people are being extorted, energy companies making record breaking profits, inflation accelerating at an enormous rate, and peoples pay especially in public sectors being stretched to breaking point resulting in wide spread strike action. This seems like a clear area of focus the government should be targeting to help reinject this money to stabilise our economy, but they just aren't. They might be scared of scaring away big companies, but at the moment they are just letting them run rampant and profitering from an over site of global events. the government need to keep their finger on the pulse and put in changes to keep all this in check, but all i see at the moment is ignorance, incompetance and inaction and it is increasing the inequality in wealth ten fold.

Taking in consideration that this year the winter season wasn't as harsh as anticipated and the days are starting to get longer, sunnier, warmer and entering the spring season. It wasn't actually that cold this winter season, meaning households weren't required to turn their heating on as frequently as anticipated. Despite this factor, these companies have been profiting immensely and making record numbers in revenue. Imagine the winter season was significantly more bleak, more prolonged and temperatures dropped significantly below subzero temperatures, that remained for extensive periods? That profit number would've been alot bigger than what they've taken in so far!

insulate your houses and then you won't need them as much. Houses in the uk as are insulated as refugee camps.
@originalunoriginal4055
@originalunoriginal4055 Жыл бұрын
@@psytcp in the UK, it's very tricky to adapt the homes being occupied, as any alterations or adjustments require planning permission from the authorities and local council. Even if a person owns the house they are living in, an application of building permission is required to be filled and be issued approval. If a household makes changes, such as adding insulated equipment, and the authorities find out, they could demand the removal of the adaptation and even issue fines to the home owner.
@psytcp
@psytcp Жыл бұрын
@@originalunoriginal4055 Great, so what's the problem with getting planning permission to insulate? They do that to almost every house to add more ££ (bedrooms). When they stop putting profit first, only then they might start having a better living space. 8/10 houses you see advertised read "recently refurbished to modern standard" which of course is a lie. Some don't have windows in every room, most have or will develop damp, have drafts near doors and windows. Couldn't be any worse really, unless the comparison are refugee camps. The UK also never want to "copy" anything good that countries with similar economy or climate do because of their ego. At the same time, they also don't want to reinvent the wheel, so in the end nothing is done. They are also stuck in the past on many aspects because here is all about embrassing capitalism and nothing else, just build as cheap as possible and make money right?
