Important new video. There is a proposal to charge EVs a flat rate of 6p per mile... but is this the beginning of complete road user charging and a total big brother camera controlled society? I think so.

We already pay by mile by fuel duty, why does some other glorified one have to come in? Oh yes because to earn even more money and to control our every move. It’s wrong that we just sit back and nod when they bring something to take our hard earned. This will affect many people yet again and businesses yet again if it does come in. It’s disgusting to be treated this way and how UK is going. Something needs to be done asap. On the other hand, I did think when they will target EV owners, and introduce the taxes. EV owners have been smug for years and let’s see if they stick to their EVs. Good of you to cover these Geoff.

I would scrap road tax, and adjust fuel duty and for those with an EV paying an additional electrical charging fee, perhaps - totally transparent, and its pay as you go - or per mile. Businesses will just pass on any new tax to their end customer - making all of our prices increase on just about everything.

I mean, we all know it's bollocks, but here's some "fun" numbers: There are currently a little over 33 million vehicles on the road in the UK There are currently a little under 1 million EVs on the road in the UK Fuel duty for next year is expected to be £25B A £10B drop in fuel duty is 40%, current EV numbers account for 3% of vehicles - so to actually make the scale of difference being suggested, they need to sell a little over 12 million EVs. The UK buys around 1.6-1.7m cars annually. If every car from this day forward sold was an EV, they still wouldn't hit that number by 2030. In reality, current EV sales are in the region of 200,000 annually. Even doubling that means that by 2030 we'll just about hit 4 million or about 12% of all vehicles being EVs. If we're super generous, they may hit 20% of all vehicles being EV by 2030. Which should equate to a fuel duty drop of about half what's being suggested. Now, the more interesting numbers - fuel duty receipts in 2019 were £27B. The £25B expectation is a post COVID figure. So there has been a ~10% drop in fuel duty. It's clearly not from the EVs on the road, they still only make up a fraction of that reduction. I'd hazard a guess here that the reduction is because of the huge number of people no longer commuting every day of the week, and has nothing to do with EVs. And then the final nail in the coffin of this idea - the number of tests being taken annually in the UK has been falling every year for nearly a decade now. I'm going to hazard a guess here, but when your first car will cost £2-3k and the first years insurance costs another £3-4k, whilst at the same time you have to live in a house with 3 other people to afford rent, it ceases to be a priority. If they do bring in road pricing, it will be an income stream that can only increase year-on-year if the price does, the number of drivers is likely to drop every year given the current state of the economy - so you cut fuel duty by forcing people to buy super expensive EVs and restrict the younger generation from even being able to start driving by having an utterly broken economy.

Last time it was proposed you were supposed to put a GPS tracker in your car and the rate per mile would change based on the road you were driving on and the time of day. Still a sixpence per-mile tax is a rip-off considering that at 1.50 gbp a litre , a car that makes 10 miles per litre, 45.5 miles per UK gallon, pays about 0.65 pence per mile now, assuming 50% of fuel cost is tax. Even a 20 mpguk guzzler would come of worse.

Familiar with Blackwall Tunnel in Greenwich, London? Used to live in Greenwich and when that tunnel gets blocked (accident/fire etc) the tailbacks on either side of the River Thames can be 7 - 10 miles within about 30/60 mins. (Same with Dartford Tunnel!!) It's happening a lot more these days too. I've always thought 'they' did it on purpose. How? Well . . . the tunnel has the same lane markers as any motorway - a red 'X' for no entry/stop! Say you were driving through the tunnel - but behind you they put the red 'X' above the entry to the tunnel lanes (2 of). You wouldn't have seen this happen.... The cars following you neither - but the ones who stop for the red 'X' think there's been an accident, as do the ones on the opposite side of the tunnel. No one is any the wiser. Depending on how long they have the tunnel 'closed', the mayhem can be astronomical! It took me 2 hours to travel half a mile in Greenwich once, all because of a Blackwall Tunnel 'closure'. I 100% think it's done on purpose!

@StephenButlerOne
@StephenButlerOne Жыл бұрын
@@kevinmills5293the cameras aren't even needed, all new cars from the last couple of years are able to track you. My car has an app that will tell me where it is, and where it's been, if it's switched on, locked etc. We are only one step away, from when you register your car, you have to link your car to your dot give id gateway. You'll get a companion app on a phone or PC and you can track what you owe. I can see you being billed monthly, if you get in arrears your car will be disabled, and your privileges revoked I can even see a near future where youll need a figure print to sign in to every car tiru drive, neatly placed on the start stop button, so no matter what car you get drive, you are billed, maybe a 50/50 with the owner, If it's not your car. But the big kicker would be, when your privileges are revoked, you won't be able to start any car. Basically your licence will be an app and your fingerprint. If this isn't in the pipeline, I hope they don't read this, as it would be the most cost effective way to enforce such a system. Government would have to pay very little, and the oems would be responsible for providing the hardware car side. But all the software is there, the only difference is an ID check , line of code, and a figure print sensor. The manufacturers would just share your driving miles, days and times, to the dot gov portal. No need for cameras for this.

There is a population decline in the West... they are hiding it with migration for now, to keep the price for renting/buying a house high and the wages low... But as there are only half as many children born every year as there are people reaching pension age (even with the migrants children), this won't work for much longer! So no, there aren't "too many people" in any Western country, there are too many leftists who want everything to collapse (so they can build their "utopia"), too many money hungry politicians, and too many migrants who aren't compatible with their host countries!

They put the barriers for their road works all the way up to the roundabout so we had to go on the wrong side of the road , anyway its getting to the point here where everyone's woken up , my friend he takes his number plates off now , drives with no insurance or tax , the police still not stopped him 6 months hes been going to and from work like that and do you know what? It’s the fault of councils and governments since the 60s that we need our cars so much. They’ve actively encouraged town planning that forces out small businesses from towns in favour of large chains in out-of-town developments. And schools are usually not within reasonable walking distance for most people since a government had the bright idea of making them compete for your children, causing bad schools to get worse; and the funding model encourages fewer and bigger schools. A similar thing has happened to employment due to the sprawl of endless housing estates that have been allowed, pushing companies farther away from those houses. I think about 60% of businesses within walking distance of my house have disappeared in the last 20 years - corner shops, filling stations, engineering firms, IT companies.

6p for ev's, 12p for petrol vechicles and 18p for Diesels, I reckon. Yes Geoff we have had fairly new cameras going up in our area (Kettering) recently and they do look suspiciously like the ULEZ cameras. Strangely they seem to be appearing on new junctions and new road layouts whereas there are none on the older roads. If the local authorities planned new roads properly so that they didnt get congested at rush hours trafic would be better managed and the need for congestion charging wouldnt be necessary at all. we have a mini roundabout by a war memorial locally and you cant even drive around it because there is not enough room to do so, it was clearly designed on a piece of A4 paper by some office jockey who never came out of the office to see what a mess he/she made of the job. Do you ever drive around a new roundabout at a low speed and feel like the g-force is trying to throw you out of the car? yes another roundabout designed by a desk jockey who will never travel that route and realise their mistake.

Did you know that even Bailiff's now have access to the ANPR system. They are allowed to install the cameras and system in their vehicles (which are often their own private vehicles) so they can drive round the area that a debtor lives and scan all the number plates looking to see if any of them belong to the person they are chasing money from. My questions are, 1:- How do the DVLA know when the bailiff is working so legally allowed to operate the system? 2:- What if they scan a number plate that belongs to someone they are not looking for but maybe has an issue with the authorities, does the system alert these authorities? 3:- Should unregulated companies like Bailiff's collecting on behalf of say council tax be allowed to use this system? 4:- If an unregulated private company like Bailiff's can use the system, what's to stop other companies paying DVLA to use the system for their own nefarious purposes? We all know that Bailiffs are self regulated private companies therefore as good as unregulated, as you know Geoff through your own experience with one such company. Imagine if they had used this system on you and found a car you had parked round the corner, they could have clamped it for the legal 2 hours then just collected it and put a card through your door to say they had it. In this case you would be out of pocket for the collection charges even if you were in the right. Yes that's true, a court judge ordered the bailiffs to return the bailiff fees they collected from me on a debt I didn't owe, but they refused saying that the order they had was correct at the time they acted on it (even though it wasn't and they were clearly in the wrong). The judge agreed with me and made the order, the Bailiff said to me IN COURT, "So sue us, we have more money than you for solicitors". The judge told me I could instruct bailiffs to collect the debt. I tried this, but not 1 single company would collect this debt because they all stick together.

A video everyone should watch. Geoff speaking 100% accurately and logically. Again instead of MP's (and Londoners) who can use a fairly good city transport system that the rest of the UK can not have due to the lack of sensible road and rail infrastructure the road users who have no choice but to drive will pay a hefty stealth tax. MP's don't want to tell us the truth about how much the NHS costs to run, NHS wages, NHS drugs to keep people alive, NHS pensions, NHS supplier costs (the same is for teachers, local councils and councilors who all have NO responsibility when things go wrong). The UK people need to be told the TRUE cost of things and pay more income tax, National Insurance and Corporation tax instead of hitting the motorist for the governments failings. Again no accountability for screwing up and that is to all parties. An agency Nurse told me recently she gets paid £240 PER 12 hour shift so what is the total cost with the agencies cut ? EX Prime ministers can claim £115,000 (Public Duty Cost) a year and Boris got £75,440 severance pay. Wake up UK and start asking questions !!!!!!!!!

Your right mate I predicted this two years ago. The tech now exists and has been tested for chips in number plates. Cameras won't be needed. You will pass the sensors and click another 6p. By then it will be a quid. They can't afford to lose the tax on fuel. Major roads will be the first so people will take back roads to avoid, causing even more congestion. Driving in the 70s was fun and you could go from A to B. as fast as you wanted. A cop had to follow you for a certain distance (1/3 of a mile I think ) to get you for speeding. Driving today is shit, and the sooner we have auto drive cars the better,
