UK (John Wetton, Eddie Jobson, Terry Bozzio) - Rendezvous

U.K. were a British progressive rock supergroup originally active from 1977 to 1980. The band was founded by bass guitarist John Wetton and drummer Bill Bruford, formerly the rhythm section of King Crimson. The band was rounded out by violinist/keyboardist Eddie Jobson, and guitarist Allan Holdsworth. Bruford and Holdsworth left in 1978, and Bruford was replaced by drummer Terry Bozzio. Jobson, Wetton and Bozzio reformed U.K. for a world tour in 2012.
John Kenneth Wetton (12 June 1949 - 31 January 2017) was an English singer, bassist, guitarist, and songwriter. Between 1972- 1982, he rose to fame fronting the bands King Crimson, U.K. and Asia. Notable work as a bass guitarist and backing vocalist included brief stints with Family, Roxy Music, Uriah Heep and Wishbone Ash.
UK recorded the album 'Danger Money', released in March 1979, which spawned a minor hit single, "Nothing to Lose", which reached number 67 on the UK charts. It was released by E.G. Records / Polydor in March 1979. Early versions of "The Only Thing She Needs", "Caesar's Palace Blues" and "Carrying No Cross" (which had the opening chords to "Danger Money" in its intro) had been performed on tour throughout 1978 by the band's original line-up with Bill Bruford and Allan Holdsworth.
The beautiful second single 'Rendezvous 6:02" was only a hit in the Netherlands. On April 23, 1979 it was chosen 'Steunplaat' by Dutch dj Frits Spits. Finally it reached no 30 in the Dutch Top 40. Until 2018 the song was in the Radio 2 Top 2000.
With far-sightedness, the cover has turned out to be corona-proof: it shows a photo of a few soaped hands under a tap!

I’ve not seen this before - what a great, classic song - I was lucky enough to see them live in London around 1980 or 81, must have been one of their last gigs. Even though they are miming in this video, still great to see. Eddie’s solo where the synth (CS80) comes in gets me every time.

_Danger Money_ was a wager of hope: maybe pop music could really have this high a level of sophistication. Such a shame that it couldn't in the end. Every other wager fell short on either side, many of those that hit the closest had more ultimate success in the business. But none of them hit this epitome.
