Campaigns to vaccinate are based on overall benefits in the population. But you can always ask a GP or specialist if you have any concerns in your case. At least in Australia, recipients of AZ have to fill out a form about risk factors first (I know this first hand). I actually DID have concerns, and consulted with both a GP and a specialist (then got the jab).

I'm 100% "anti vitamin D deficiency," at the same time it ought to be recognized that vaccines make a bigger difference than vitamin D sufficiency alone. If I recall, 80% of the non D-deficient do not need hospitalization (maybe a study in Brazil, I'm not sure), against 87% of those vaccinated even with Sinovac, which is presumably the worst vaccine (study in Chile, which used mostly/nearly-only this vaccine) -- worth also adding that the non-hospitalization is not even the full picture, as people escaping hospitalization and death through vaccination are also likely to be spreading less of the virus and less mutations (unfortunately, not "zero"). I have the impression that media/news often covered that vitamin D has an important/complementary role, and even then there are those who see this as a "replacement," believing overdoses give one "super immunity" and make vaccines unnecessary, specially if coupled with other supplements. Certainly more of a highlight on that by government authorities would have the risk of promoting this sort of idea, with many seeing it as some sort of "admission" of the truth of a panacea.

Hi there , I live in Cape town ..SA..I know realize that everyone's immune response is different , but I tested positive for Delta in June this year and have received one shot of Phizer since then.On Friday last week I tested positive for Omicron and I can tell you what I experienced is that Omicron is about 80% less severe than what I experienced with the Delta variant..I've just had a stuffy blocked nose , scratchy throat and feeling tired.This has only lasted for about 3 days , as I feel I'm already getting back to normal.

In simple terms life seems to be going almost as normal, with many people just getting on with it after being infected, and having only a few days of heavy flu type symptoms... @@annaredding Hi Anna - Yes definately .. 1st of all there seems to be a floury of infections (somewhat confusing as symptoms are diff from Delta) within my local social groups/circles, that were not there in the other waves - by that I mean that it appears to be that many of my contacts/friends are getting something that is not Delta, and seems to be Omicron (verified - in some cases as they get tested) These people are not going to hospital, and don't need to, by isolate at home and after a few days are good to go. So it's spreading aggressively and quickly that is clear... and it appears to be a normal "heavyweight" flu.

Got a tiny sinus tingle and some fatigue, and one day of a "thick throat" feeling. This variant is NOTHING like Delta. I've had head colds far worse than this! Home treating with Oregano, Clove, garlic and nasal salt rinse. Feeling GREAT after just 3 days. All reports from people in my community say that their symptoms are very mild - in fact some had no idea it was COVID til they tested. In my opinion, the panic from politicians is ridiculous. In the UK many routine GP & hospital appointments are going to be cancelled so the health service can concentrate on giving boosters. @@glenndavis4452 I think you are right. I showed symptoms ( mild cough) on a Sunday. The previous Friday and Saturday I had done two 8Km runs with no abnormal exhaustion even though there is little doubt that I was incubating the virus. I am certain that this stopped me getting a high viral load and tied in with a robust immune system helped me combat the worst effects. I had a minimal temperature for a few hours and the cough lasted two days. I did lose my sense of smell for a couple of months but other than that nothing. I was back running the following week.

May I just remind people that if you take high doses of Vitamin D you need to consider K2 and magnesium too - the reason is high dose Vitamin D can cause calcium to deposit as stones in the kidneys for example in some people. Also vitamin D needs magnesium. It is worth reading up around this so you know for your own bioindividual self how this works.

@Sornodrog yes and no. He repeats what the authorities are saying but definitely fills in many of the blanks - things they don't say. Omicron is likely mild in SA but it is a younger demographic with higher levels of natural immunity compared to UK and US. Zinc and D3 are critical in reducing/ preventing. So far, no one has died from it. He's of the opinion that it is likely a relatively mild variant that is a fast spreader and therefore supplants the more potent Delta variant. Boosters offer 75% protection from infection. Authorities are more pessimistic than is he, as they have been all along.

There is no CAUSAL link found between vitamin D and better outcomes for Covid, only a correlation. "Dr" Campbell should be very carefully pointing that out. This is in stark contrast to the highly proven causality between being vaccinated and being protected from Covid (up to Delta Variant - and so far the data says 3 shots are good for Omicron).

I think the PM is trying to hang onto his job so didn’t take all the advice his Scientific public health advisors gave him. He knows that imposing stricter measures not necessarily lockdowns will mean a few of his back benchers will throw a tantrum as they don’t care about individuals lives or health only their pocket books. Basically the British public are canon fodder to his reactive style of leadership in this pandemic . Demonstrably so when you look at the lower deaths numbers per head of population in other countries in Europe. Everyone in South Africa who got Omicron has either been infected already, or are vaccinated. They therefore already have antibodies. That’s the only reason why it’s mild there. Also, everyone in Norway who got Omicron was vaccinated, so the vaccines work. Our existing antibodies are obviously effective against Omicron. I live in the U.S. and am thankful not to have mandatory shots... but the pressure is huge!! As an instrument of pharma and govt, the media builds up fear instead of recommending and promoting good health and vitamins. Many elderly only watch tv for their info. 😔 I’m over 65, had the virus a year ago this month, and it took about 7 months to get to feeling really Good. If I get it again, well, I just get it again! 🤷‍♀️ I look after my elderly parent and they never have gotten it. I give them vitamins every single day. Neither of us choose to get the shot. My DIL got her second one and ended up in the hospital. My brother, who is older than me and has a number of medical issues, has gotten 2 and a booster. He said the booster made him sick for a week. I really think each person should decide for themselves - I don’t fault people at all for choosing a shot. But boy, some people in my senior apartments! One said “oh, so you’re just going to ride on the back of my shot?!” and I thought 💭 what??? If it’s so freaking effective, why are people still getting sick after they get it, still can pass it to others?! I realize it may reduce the severity of the illness, but seriously- I’ll take what comes. Part of the reason I say that is because I’m Scot by heritage. 😁😂 And part of it is because I have faith in God. The Bible says he knows my days. When it’s my time, then I’ll go, and not before. The entire platform of optimism is based on Omicron, working as a better vaccine against Delta, than the current vaccines. Once again, we will not benefit from those properties unless we are actually "infected" by Omicron. Best case scenario is that we all get infected by Omicron, so that when Delta hits us, we will have "natural immunity" to help fight the more deadly Delta strain. Had I not already survived Delta, I might be wondering, where can I sign up for my Omicron injection?

Thanks Dr John. I am from SA and have been following your channel for over a year. In Durban, particularly my area, there has been a cold/flu circulating for the last 2/3 weeks now. Some people seem to get it and then get diagnosed with Covid while others get the bug, get tested for Covid and come up negative (sometimes from the same household). I think this points to the uselessness/unreliability of the PCR tests. I have a partner who is in healthcare and she has stated that there isn't an overburdening demand on beds etc at all and hasn't been the case for a while. I have a concern that the news and data that the rest of the world gets and shares isn't always the case and is just used to create narratives, and vice versa for other countries using data in a similar manner.
