Keep in mind that british pool tables have tighter pockets that are also cut different than US tables. So shots along the rails are much harder.
@hatesitrick2 жыл бұрын
yes exactly. You cannot touch the rail once with the object ball if you're trying to pot in the corners. Completely different game. Harder.
@whirledpeas1182 Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say harder, just different. Center pockets are far more accessible than US tables. Tables are generally smaller than what you would see in US pro circuits. And while those rail shots are indeed tricky, the cue ball being smaller than the object balls changes the shot entirely and its easier to hit pure when the OB is tight to the cushion. I could never get used to the 0otting angle with the difference in size between cue and object though.
@captoonsvideo Жыл бұрын
Also, the cue ball is smaller than the other balls so it’s harder to hit it off the table, as an English pool table is so tiny.
@nitnesto9195 Жыл бұрын
@@whirledpeas1182 center pockets just look a lot more open but they're not really that much easier. the curved cushion shoots the balls out, doesn't take them in. you should see some of the shots in the new ultimate pool league, the ball looks like it's going almost dead center in the middle and it just doesn't go in at pace, at not even much of an angle also i'm not sure if there's still difference in the cue ball size, but it hardly makes the game any easier. some shots yeah, some shots are more difficult.
@RyanADillon Жыл бұрын
@@whirledpeas1182 I personally find playing on a 8ft/9ft US pool table (over the past 2 years) significantly easier than a 6ft UK pool table over 20+ years. The corner pockets on US tables are far more forgiving. Obviously the table is equal for you and your opponent but I find running out a table on US tables much easier due to more surface area (less likelihood of clustering) and easier corner pockets. I think the middle pockets on each table are of similar difficulty.

I'm not sure why most of them feel like they have to commentate a match like it's boxing, with comments like "OOOOh and he sinks another!!!" It makes me feel like I'm talking to a car salesman. I much prefer the UK style of commentating billiards, which is more reserved and analytical; with energetic commentary saved for truly exceptional moments in the match.

Pool and snooker are very different sports. You can not compare them. But its fact, that its easier for a snooker player to play pool than otherwise. The game in snooker is much more tactical and much more about precision. I think for a snooker player its easier to get a pool-player than a pool player trys to play professional snooker.
