British royal, Prince William, showed off his driving skills for the first time on Monday and kept a rendezvous with his brother Harry and their proud father, the Prince of Wales.
It was also the day, London newspaper reports said, that Prince William told friends he expected to join the Welsh Guards once he leaves university.
Learner driver, Prince William, who is 17, plucked up courage to drive in front of the world's media at Highgrove, the country home of Prince Charles.
He successfully negotiated the gravel driveway of the Gloucestershire residence and managed to brake just a few yards from a bank of television cameras.
It was an official summer photocall, the first media opportunity of its kind at Highgrove.
On the doorstep were Prince Harry and the Prince of Wales who said his eldest son's driving was going very well.
Stepping from the car, with a broad grin on his face, 6 foot-plus William towered over his father and brother.
But Harry is also growing fast and is catching up with William - and Charles.
The three Princes now hope to be left alone by the media to enjoy their summer holiday, in private.
For the invited media it was a rare chance to get the first picture of William driving.

"I think Prince Charles realises that the press have been very good over not covering William and Harry at school and it's a way of paying us back and giving us something - quite good pictures. And it's a situation where Prince William is taking driving lessons and is shortly to take his test and he wanted to show us how good he is and I think it's a very good thing."

"William stood up to it very well - he doesn't like the cameras at the best of times. He looked fairly confident - a little bit nervous though when he drove the car along. But smiling a lot and looking at the cameras which makes a big difference. They do this in return for a quiet summer. They hope that if they give this so-called official photocall - the first of its kind at Highgrove - then they'll be left alone to have a relatively quiet time enjoying themselves when they go sailing in the Mediterranean and later at Balmoral."

The family is expected to embark on a Mediterranean cruise, on board Greek shipping millionaire John Latsis's yacht, after celebrating the Queen Mother's 99th birthday on August 4 in London.
Later in the summer, they are likely to spend time at Balmoral, the Queen's Scottish estate.
