good review was interested to hear your view on the diesel engine of the car . Ive owned 2 mk 1 tts and 6 mk 2 tts about to buy a used mk 3 tt diesel with 3000 miles on spedo but will be doing more motor way work . hence im leaning to a diesel . I was worried i would not be able to live with the car being diesel but in all fairness your car sounded ok while you were driving and not to noisey i was worried at speed on the motor way i would hear the engine loudly in the cabin of the car . This morning i seen another car with the navagation i thought the navagation was a bit of a gimick but you have left me with a good impression on the navagation as im going to newbury tommorow to view the car nice colour as well being the nano grey . Again good review thanks

Hi-have just got a 66 plate TDi roadster in Ibis white.....love it👍. You mentioned Spotify through the MMI system-I can't find a way of getting my spotify downloaded Library albums to display and able to be selected through the car controls. ATM I'm selecting the music on my phone and playing the sound through the car system. Am I missing something? Thanks

Thanks! The wind diffuser is definitely better to have than not. It works fairly well but there is still some draft in the cabin at speed albeit not a lot. Thinking of getting one?

I will try the hotspot for Google maps as I have been eating through data. Also, how do you get to the boot from the mid-seat compartment?

Hey - it shouldn't use much data if you're hot spotting purely for the maps. There is the option for music as well, I use Spotify offline instead. Above the armrest, there is a compartment where it houses a first aid kit and a hole to the boot - you can lock this bit if required.

Great video. Like you I am in a bit of a dilemma as whether to go for the coupe or convertible. Never had a convertible but cannot live with car without sunroof so coming down in favour of convertible. Couple of questions though: The seat back heaters are a bit expensive so I am inclined just to go for the heated seats especially as the TT will not be my everyday car and therefore not used a lot on the winter months. Do the air blowers make a big difference as to how often you have the hood down? Secondly, what made you decide to go for the diesel as opposed to the 2 litre or even 1.8 litre petrol engine? The tax advantages as a private car i.e. lower VED not longer pertain and is the diesel not noisier and does it not vibrate more at idle? I appreciate the diesel engine will have more torque but for a low mileage private owner I struggle to justify the added cost. Although I have yet to test drive a roadster I am inclined from the reports I have read towards the smaller engine model. I am looking for a car to replace my (previous generation) MINI Cooper S - my third of the BMW series since 2003. MINI convertible is actually great fun to drive but not really made up with the looks or the very fussy interior. I've always had a bit of a soft spot for the TT but until the latest model I always thought it more of a hairdressers car than a sports car. Would welcome your comments.

Hey Richard. Great to read, thanks. Q1. Seat blowers - If you're not a person that gets cold easily, definitely not required, they're merely a 'nice to have.' My partner however does get cold easily so she uses them with the seat heater (the seat heaters get to a very good temp!). The air conditioning/blowers are really good and what you can do is blast the heat on your feet when the roofs down and it fills the cabin with heat. Q2. Completely agree on hairdresser / sports car. They've really done an awesome job with this iteration. You'll love it. Great Q... I went for diesel due to economy, torque and the fact it doesn't really sound like a diesel. I've used diesel cars for a lot of my time and enjoyed them. I did have the petrol version of this car for a month and it was the 2.0. It was a faster and did sound better than the diesel (FYI there's a setting to change the engine sound and make it quieter or louder). So it's difficult for me to answer your question as it's personal choice. There aren't many 1.8s on the road but would suggest you either go for the 2.0 petrol or 2.0 diesel - I had heard the value of the 1.8s weren't holding well. If you're doing low miles, I think the petrol would make more sense as it will sound better, it's quicker and economy difference isn't likely going to be that different. Part of me wishes I went petrol over diesel so hopefully that helps!

Tony - many thanks for your reply which was very helpful. I've been playing around with the one-line configurator over the weekend and have a clearer idea of the spec I am likely to go for. I still to make a decision on exterior paint and roof colour and interior leather colour. The brochure swatches are not always very reliable and in the past I have found there is no substitute from seeing the colours and trim in real life. Some cars are colour sensitive and although I don't think this is especially the case with the TT I want view the options - particularly the different whites and greys. One final question: I'm leaning towards going for the Sport rather than the S-Line model as the price differential would allow me to spend more on what I consider more desirable options. The 19" wheels look good but I'm not sure that they are worth the added cost. But my question is whether the LED headlights are worth £1695 more than the standard xenons. I spec'd Xenons on previous cars but am really disappointed with the Halogens on my i3 (there was no Xenon option only an LED option which has now been made standard with a forthcoming price increase). The technology pack is £205 less and is more appealing. Although I don't do a huge amount of night driving I do live in the country and have to use unlit B roads and unclassified country lanes. Again your guidance would be most appreciated. Many thanks Richard

Richard Piper great to read. Very good point on the colour as there are so many to choose from!! I didn't go for the matrix lights, just Xeon on the S line. Both versions come with safety daytime running LED lights. I'm really pleased with the lights that I have, they were a really big stand out compared to my previous car and light the road up well (I'm in the country so they work well but I can't compare to the latter as I've not tried). If you won't be doing much night time driving then I think you've nailed it. Unfortunately the extras with Audi add up rather quickly!! The other thing for me is I really like the S line daytime running LED lights. The none S line version looks slick and the S line look a bit 'mean' if that makes sense.

Hi, is there an apple car play option available ?

Hi Sam, not on this model. As the virtual cockpit is the only media screen in the car, guessing it wouldn't be practical to have. Syncing via wi-fi / bluetooth / usb / aux all work really well for media.
