UK's Best Chinese Takeaway is in Wolverhampton 你肯定没吃过这些 “中餐”

When I visited the UK earlier this year, I decided to visit the most popular Chinese takeaway in my hometown of Wolverhampton, and order a load of dishes from the menu. And then?
Take those dishes home and sit down for a gigantic British-style Chinese banquet with my mom and dad. But is the food authentically Chinese? Watch and find out.

Hey Stu, in China there did have a dish called “lemon duck” or “柠檬鸭” in Guangxi Province, I tried it ever in Nanning and Yulin, but it is quite different from what you have shown in the video. You can try it if you visit there some day in the future,

i want to go try the Guangxi dish… on a similar ingredients note, there’s a soup from the Chaozhou/Shantou area called Salted Lemon Duck Soup 咸柠檬鸭汤 that’s also really good. i love sour foods~

I'm from Guilin in Guangxi province and my mom used to make lemon duck when I was a kid and I loved the dish! My grandma would make the marinated lemon herself and use it for the dish.

The crispy wontons look so good as does the lemon chicken. The closest I've had to that is battered fish with lemon sauce drizzled on it which is delicious~

It's very different to fish with lemon juice... Sweeter, stickier, plus it's chicken so that's quite different. If you ever see it on a menu anywhere, definitely give it a try Baatar!

actually Stu, you can find a version of lemon chicken in Hong Kong we call 西檸雞 (western lemon chicken). it should be quite similar except maybe the sauce will taste a bit different. it's basically battered chicken pieces deep fried with a sugary lemon juice+peels sauce thickened with a lot of corn starch.

Quite common in recent decades for overseas chinese restaurants serving cooked food to have traditional n newer non traditional dishes in their menu Take lemon chicken for eg. This dish can be found in chinese restaurants in countries with large chinese diaspora eg thailand , malaysia , singapore an the chinatowns in UK an US. It could be lst created by some chinese restaurant in thailand but we dont really know for sure ,. thats all.

Prices are really inexpensive. Here in New York Long Island costs $15 dollars for one dish in Chinese takeout. Maybe $8 for meat skewers one piece. If you want to be full most likely $34 to $45.

How is it fake Chinese dishes? What makes Chinese food, Chinese is the cooking methods and ideas and combination of flavors. Ingredients and adjusting for taste is what people naturally do to appeal to their flavor preferences to enjoy their food more. I think that if they would open a British Chinese restaurant in china, it would be succesful too, because Chinese people like new tastes and variations.

I moved over from HK last year and tried a few Chinese Take Aways in around my area in Manchester, EWWWWWW!!!!! its so Westernized and changed to match UK taste buds. They love to deep fry the heck out of everything lol Ive even seen people eat Chips with curry sauce at a Chinese restaurant LOL. Great to see your parents enjoying the food.
