there is use on BRSL in Stone, Stafford & Hanford. seems to be popular on industrial estates & farms. most businesses around Stoke On Trent & Staffordshire use PMR including a local primary school, Sports Direct, M&S & Lidl but if anyone else comes on channel they all get spooked & change channels

Wonder if I could incorporate a ‘nattersRus’ company to loophole, with a mission statement of talking about absolutely anything at any time! Haha Great video, Lewis. I tried to start the conversation around creating a U.K. version of FRS/GMRS by reforming PMR446 but it never really led anywhere. Would be great to have a portion of the band where we’re ‘legally allowed’ to use slightly higher power, better equipment, and repeaters as it works with GMRS. Would be great to publicise the petition!

Excellent production. The U.S. has two similar licenses - GMRS which most radio people are aware of, and Itinerant Business License. There are 80-100 frequencies in both VHF and UHF.

I really like the content, as someone rejoining the radio hobby it's nice to see simple but interesting content. I have been off work with a broken ankle and have managed to binge watch most of the videos, they are very interesting and educational. Keep up the good work

Americans call this Low Power Business Radio or Itinerant Business Radio. Power is 2-4 watts. Certain other radio channels used with low power are common too, especially retail stores,
@normanhill535
@normanhill535 3 жыл бұрын
Our low power and Itinerant business services are licenced and often pirated by unlicenced users, because office supply stores sell them to anyone or the on-line stores. They have 2 watts VHF and 2-4 watts UHF. Another, unlicenced, radio service is MURS ( 2 watts, 5 VHF channels, for business or personal communications, also called VHF CB unofficially ). The German version is Freenet on 149 MHz.

With the amount of local abuse on 2m around the Midlands with no ofcom action I suppose I can see why the frequencies are ideal for free-banders but great video Lewis 👍

Hi there I don’t have yet ham license I new in this hobby and I don’t know if I’m going to do or not but I the moment just listening 👂 I manage to hear two folks talking about 56miles away Stonehenge area and few local people 8miles away I scanned couple times a days for a few days check local repeater but all dead there is no one to talk to or maybe is my area I live .I watch a lot videos on KZbin about radios and license but now I came out to conclusion that the license could be to introduce people to the hobby of dying business .that’s only my feeling when I first switch on ham radio. Before I only use walkie talkie I guess they are Olywiz on a hiking trip with my son . But now not sure if ham radio was a good move as there is no. One there

You'll struggle with FM 2m. If you are licensed then you'll at least a 10W HF allowance, try down there, it's much easier to talk longer distances.

Oh, some very nice frequencies though. I do like the look of that low VHF band : ) Is the licence for a single allocated band only? Or single allocated channel only? Also, are the radios "fixed antenna only" like PMR ... and, if not, would connecting a rooftop dipole count as a "base station" even if it were only a 5w HT using the antenna temporarily at a more remote location. Finally, am I correct in my understanding here... there is both a "simple" and a "business" class. Business covers employee messaging, presumably for as many HTs as you require, with no non-commercial chatter... but what of personal use? Is that a per-person non-transferable right to transmit? And what would count as permissible use (general chatter?) when not operating as a business. Still, for personal it's probably easier having your friends sit the Foundation multi-choice, nabbing their M3/M6 call, and getting on the local repeaters. Or just nabbing a zello-equipped network radio. But for a tiny bit of local RF real estate, these allocations look good : ) And, of course, a "business" could potentially be anything... a £20 Limited Company with £1 share capital and left in dormant non-trading status. Or a sole proprietor with nothing more than a letterhead and no stock, clients or income... ... and I assume "employees" would also cover "volunteers" ; ) Lots of questions : )))))))

I don't understand a lot of this video as I am totally new to walkie talkies. With regards to JUCJET PMR446mmhz 3.7V - is this licence free in the UK, also does it have to be reprogrammed to the UK frequencies, if so how do you do this (I am not techy) and can you use Channel 16 legally in the UK as I thought this was the scanning channel).

So if I want to use a radio to talk to my friends casually what the hell am I supposed to do? PMR is not powerful enough and overly congested Amateur license spends too much time faffing around with callsigns and etiquette. I just want to chat shit to my mates on a road trip why’s it so hard?

Hi, can you please shed some light on my puzzle, I want to apply for the business simple license for me and my family, can I pick out of that list ( from your video) 2 frequencies VHF and one for UHF due to wanting to use both uhf and vhf, another question is can I use a low power repeater to fix blind spots ? (ex: hills)
@RingwayManchester

Hi there, they’ll assign you a frequency based on availability. As for repeaters, that’s a different game altogether and it costs hundreds to license one

Ofcom just wants the money £75 for a 5 year licence. After that it doesn't really care much what you are doing on it, as long as it's not over the top shenanigans.
