UK Subs - C.I.D.

I played in a support band at a few UK Subs gigs way back in the late seventies and I have to say that Charlie Harper is one of the nicest, most straight forward and unaffected guys I've come across in the business; he had not a drop of vanity or sense of self-entitlement in him and was always happy to help others in their endeavours if it was within his capacity. I's great that he's still up on stage and doing his thing.

Likewise mate ....I was in Demob back in those days and Charlie and the rest of the Subs were bloody awesome to us ...Nicky Garrett even let me use his Marshall stack at one gig as my amp was a really shite little thing and not up to the job in hand :) ...Harper , Garrett , Slack and Davies ...the absolute best line up:)

That clip is 40 years ago & they still play to this very day playing with total conviction. I just saw them at the 100 club and they were excellent. Go and see this band.

They played at my local Kelly's in Leamington spa a few years ago.I said to my brother at the end of an alcohol fuelled night.Who's that with the green hair collecting all our glasses? to which my brother replied "Charlie Harper,that's who" sums up this brilliant down to earth legend.

This is how I remember them. Saw them a bunch of times in the early 80s in NYC. One memorable night at CBGB stands out. They were grace in the face of chaos.

saw the the uk subs live at "the brickyard" in carlisle july 8th,awesome show,charlie mingled with the crowd and i got a photo with him,great venue,great bar staff,i even got to buy him a bottle of grolsch,fantastic.thanks to the band for a great nite

saw the subs in 1978 at the lyceum - lay on the stage underneath nicky garret pissed up on cider - brilliant band - still going - saw them about 5 years ago at the underworld in camden - harper left halfway thru to pick up his pension - arf arf - proper punk

@Edhallick I remember that show well. I remember the guitarist found a way to literally hang upside down from the ceiling while they played. I think he was probably the only person ever to attempt that trick from the crumbling rafters of that hellhole. It was a great night.

Saw them at HIgh Wycombe town Hall, Guldford University and Crawley Leisure centre. Wycombe town hall was amazing,the students bar at Guildford university was destroyed, looked like a bomb had hit it,unbelieveable. Crawley leisure centre was marred by skinhead violence. They were great live though. In 1979/80 when i saw them they were amazing....
