A terrorist who stabbed a stranger to death in an attack motivated by the conflict in Gaza has been sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 44 years.
Ahmed Ali Alid attempted to kill his housemate Javed Nouri, 31, a Christian convert, then prowled the streets of Hartlepool until he came across Terence Carney, 70, stabbing him six times in the chest, abdomen and back as Sky's Shingi Mararike reports.

Acts like this turn the most reasonable and liberal leaning person into a far right Islamophobe . I am certainly changing my position whilst still trying not to demonize every Muslim . People try to defend Islam , but the more cases there are like this the more difficult it becomes . He makes it more difficult for genuine asylum seekers . I used to be against the death penalty full stop , but I think it should be available as a last resort for a judge's tool box and cases like this would be a good candidate. There was no argument over who had committed these terrorist acts in this case , in fact he was proud of it ! He blamed a defenceless old man for getting killed and even if that man had of shouted something he didnt agree with he didnt deserve to be killed . He tried to kill a house mate from Iran who had had committed the ' unforgeable crime ' of converting to Christianity . This mans is a total bigoted Islamofascist who will never be safe to be released . If he doesnt like our society here it is a free country and he had been free at any point to leave and go somewhere more to his liking . I am on the left and generally dont have a problem with reasonable numbers of genuine asylum seekers feeling war , famine and persecution and especially if they are Christians fleeing Islamist persecution in their own countries ( which hardly gets any news coverage - In fact they are more likely to fit in and help our churches thrive ) . I am not going to condemn every Muslim for the actions of a few though .
