Well explained…iv traveled by train many times on bikes. Highly recommend it to ferry..smooth and a fraction of the time.maybe a strapping system could be used like on the ferry to stop bikes lurching forward.be aware tall riders with flip up lids.. head clearance is limited….👍🇬🇧

I found out last year, if you are riding a trike you will be waved to the front of the bike queue as you are loaded immediately after the cars, trikes can't be parked at an angle like bikes.

Looking for others’ thoughts please on current motorbike parking procedure on the Eurotunnel trains, and why we park facing left. Love using their service, however last time we used it with the bikes, the train driver had to apply slightly firmer braking pulling in at the end (nothing major), and some bikes then literally domino’d into each other causing some damage. Would there be more advantage for bikes to park facing right, so that any extra force (caused by unanticipated train braking) is then applied against the side stand? Is the current parking procedure (left-facing) the safest, if train braking can negate the side-stand? After this incident we will try to park up with more space around us in the train (if able of course), should the same happen again. Really interested in people’s thoughts please 👍

Really good point. I’ll take up the challenge in asking Eurotunnel for the rationale behind parking to the left. Was anyone the damage paid for by eurotunnel or did they give you the standard ‘at your own risk’ reply?

@@TangoPasty we were lucky, but the three riders next to us (who couldn’t catch them in time) got a Eurotunnel form to complete. I’m unaware of the outcome.

I remember in the early days of the channel tunnel you had to park your front wheel of the bike into a giant clamp type of thing. But there were only a couple of these on the train, it was a real struggle to get off it on my CBR 1000 loaded up with luggage etc. the modern way is much easier.

@@littlenemo14I first used the tunnel in 2008 I think… Don’t recall that method. So glad it’s improved!

Thank you!!! Really glad you like what we get on the channel so far. Coincidentally we have just completed our ride around some of the French Alps so will be popping on the footage over the next few weeks. Give me an email if you want more info, john@motoventuratours.co.uk and tell me where you’re planning to go. Happy to share GPX files too if you need them

A good no nonsense guide. I like the "just shove it in your pocket, no one really cares" That tends to be my attitude once i'm on site.

@@TangoPasty I'm currently working with an on and off schedule in Lincolnshire. I plan to bring my bike over from Holland next time. So I would probably ride around the surrounding contryside in weekends. And at the end of my next rotation, I plan to ride to London and join the BSMC show, then go back via the tunnel.

I don’t think I’d use ferry again, this is so convenient and no stress if you’re running a little late
