Rhodos can grow in alkaline soils apparently too,as was shown on Gardener's world some years back

Good to know! It’s usually related to some plants being less able to uptake nutrients and minerals from alkaline soil.

Really enjoyed this video. I brought a Kalopanax after seeing the one in Abbotsbury last year. Iris Confusa is also a a great plant but the slugs and snails love it. I dug mine up due to it constantly being attacked. Cheers

Not at all, the paths are all gravel so you should be fine 👍
