Yes, please reverse culture shocks as well, pointing out some differences to learn about 🙂 Well.. German car industry has mostly 800k employees which get discount on own cars, mostly for just keeping them for 12 months. Another think are "Firmenwagen/Dienstwagen" were a lot of "more expensive" cars are pumped into the German market. Yes, Mercedes provides a lot of different vehicles, up to Unimog 🙂

Er, the kids just don't understand Eninem - it's just background noise. I don't think a song with hard German swear words would play at McDonald's here. Teens might understand it, but swearwords in another language sound not as bad as in your own. I swear much easier in English than in German for example.
@DocyinDeutschlandАй бұрын
That seems fair. Thinking about it now I can see how I wouldn't understand if a song came on the radio and it was swearing in French for example.

For the plate....How did you move WOB (Wolfsburg) to Bavaria (Flag)? LOL
@DocyinDeutschlandАй бұрын
Honestly I just grabbed the image offline. I didn't validate how real it was. I just knew the info I needed was there if that makes any sense?
@Steeler-wg5zoАй бұрын
@@DocyinDeutschland Hey, that's not a criticism, it's just funny to me because I know the plates inside out. And Wolfsburg in Bavaria is like Dover in Scotland...
@DocyinDeutschlandАй бұрын
No offence was taking my friend :D I do see how this is funny now that you've given me the comparision. There's a license plate video in the pipeline (good bit off), but I'll make sure to be verifying everything as best I can before that video comes out. Cheers for watching

Nunja Karte ist nicht gleich Karte, EC Karte oder Kreditkarte?
@DocyinDeutschlandАй бұрын
I am a little confused? If places don't take card they won't take any care whether that be credit or debit card. Not sure if I've missed something 🤔
@arnodobler1096Ай бұрын
@@DocyinDeutschland The EC bank card or Giro Card, is directly linked to your account, no money no purchase, you get it from your bank. Credit cards are more expensive for the seller. This also has an effect on prices.

Makes sense :)

@@DocyinDeutschlandThere are places in Germany that take debit but not credit cards though. Rarely, but it happens. Germans absolutely prefer to pay with debit cards. Credit cards are only used for travelling, booking flights or hotels. The thought of not knowing immediately how much money is left or was spend, the lack of control and the possibility to create debts is very unappealing. Many people don’t have credit cards. I don’t know what the technical aspect of this is but local banks might have a different payment system. Foreign cards might not be accepted at all.
@SheratanLPАй бұрын
Cash is king. There are several reasons. 1. Card payments are not free for shops. Therefore, it is not worthwhile for many small shops to offer card payments. 2. I think you know that it is possible to create a profile of you just from your card purchases. As an East German, I have been spied on by the East German state security for long enough. I am not going to make it that easy for the state anymore. To be honest, I don't want to prepare my food in a stranger's kitchen. You don't know what they did in the kitchen. I could give you some really disgusting examples, but I think you have enough imagination to imagine it yourself. It's a funny thing with status symbols. Foreigners only see the star on the car and think that someone is driving a premium brand. It's the same with BMW. But you must not look at the grille, but rather what is written on the rear. A 3 Series BMW is just as little special as a VW of the same size. It only starts to be premium with the BMW 7 Series. BMW and Mercedes make just as affordable vehicles as any other car brand. The only difference is that BMW and Mercedes also make vehicles that only the upper class can afford, which only a few other manufacturers do. There are no upper class vehicles with the name Fiat. Fiat makes upper class vehicles, but they are called Ferrari. Number plates. Some Germans also enjoy making something funny out of the letters. For example, the town of Saalfeld (SLF) "Sie lernen fahren" (You learn to drive) or Wunsiedel (WUN) "Waldmensch unter Naturschutz" (Forest people under nature conservation). 🤣🤣🤣🤣

All very very good points. I had never thought about kitchens in that way before. Great way to think about it. Also I had no idea about the whole Fiat Ferrari thing. That's good to know as well 😊
@SheratanLPАй бұрын
@@DocyinDeutschland Many very expensive car brands are now owned by completely unremarkable brands. Even some English brands such as Bentley, which belongs to VW. I have just found out that Ferrari is no longer owned by Fiat. It is difficult to keep track of the luxury cars anymore.

12:31 What do you mean "roundabouts are back to front"? I don't know what this idiom means. If it means what I think it means, your family and acquaintance must be kidding.

By back to front I mean the wrong way round. Asen in the UK you drive round a roundabout the other direction. Very much the way I have said this. Sorry for the confusion

@@wWvwvV As weird as it may seem, I am actually more used to how people drive in Germany as opposed to the UK. I'm not often in a car in the UK but when I am over in Germany with my parter (she lives there), we drive all the time.
