DAMN! These guys are good! Thing about being into punk was that you had a really limited exposure to bands based on your location and what albums you scoped out via word-of-mouth - I had "Blood Run" on cassette forever thanks to a local college station that had a hardcore/punk show, never wrote down band names so did not until today discover who this was!!! Love it. Thanks for the post!!!! Made my day....... still hc after 40 years!!!

This (along with Discharge's first album/EP's) shows how anarcho-punk carried metal influences - and itself influenced metal - right from the start. Thrash metal and crust punk more or less grew from the same musical roots.

Where do you think Bathory falls into this? Some of Quorthon's early stuff is definitely D-Beat. But I always considered them a strictly metal band.
@kakstin9 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. Bathory were very much in the speed/thrash/proto-black metal camp, but with definite Discharge influences. And of course, Discharge themselves had a lot of metal in their sound.
@kakstin9 жыл бұрын
Yeah, of course. The whole NWOBHM was based on a fusion of proto-metal and first-wave punk. And all the other bands you named have their place in history as well.

It seems despite all the hostility between the fans of both scenes during the 70 -mid 80s (Most in the US), Punk and Metal will always have a genuine collision with one another (musically speaking)

Jimmy Calhoun the NWOBHM had fuck all to do with the punk scene back in 78/79. it did what it did and us punx did as much as possible to laugh at the grobs.

Great Old Punk. Wish I would have seen them in "1984" or "85". I First Listened To True Underground N.Y. C. Punk in "1983".

I saw them after thay brought out all 3 albums and thay were a great live band but the punks who were there main audience did not like the turn back trilobite stuff I remember them getting bood and a lot of stick for playing stuff off that album. I liked it so felt quite sorry for them probably why thay split up

Saw this lot at the Fulham greyhound, in 1986! Made a change for a punk/metal band to have a female singer!!
