Ukimido (浮御堂) or "the floating temple", officially named as Kaimonzan Mangetsu-ji, despite not being widely known across Japan, has been long regarded as one of the eight most scenic places in the Ohmi area of Shiga Prefecture in Japan. It's located at the southern end of Lake Biwa in Katata. Many famous poets and artists from the past, such as Matsuo Basho, Kobayashi Issa, Takahama Kyoshi, Utagawa Hiroshige, and Katsushika Hokusai, visited here and left behind poetry and artwork.
