Fantastic video! That dinky little barrier just looks really strange but it looks great with the thin warning light! Shame it sticks out into the road and there's all this ugly fencing still here though!
@UKLevelCrossingsChannel5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! 😃 Quite sure the little barrier will be adjusted slightly to not stick out, fencing will be replaced and signs installed within a few weeks time.

@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel Pretty sure I've seen shorter gate arms here in the US, lol.

That's cool that the two barriers are uneven, and there's a narrow light board!
@UKLevelCrossingsChannel5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, two barriers are different sizes. Plus indeed there is a narrow warning light and a pedestrian light the other side 😎

I’m American and I enjoy watching your videos. Just a question, why, after the gates come down, trains seem in Britain to take a lot longer to come than in the USA? Is this an added safety thing? Many USA drivers would get impatient waiting for more than about 20 or 30 seconds. (I wouldn’t.)
@UKLevelCrossingsChannel5 жыл бұрын
A lot of UK crossings are controlled as well as automatic. Controlled crossings are protected by signals and are manually operated by a signalman. A controlled crossing is checked clear (by the signalman) before a train is allowed to proceed (by a green signal). Therefore, it takes a train a few minutes to reach the level crossing. This video explains it a little better: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q2PaqWx5gK6Ub8k

So they put new warning lights up and took the already new ones down? That is odd. Hopefully they do not just end up in the dumpster.

3 of the wigwags were reused form the previous crossing. The thin wigwag & the pedestrian light is new.
@UKLevelCrossingsChannel5 жыл бұрын
Yes, Will S is correct, only the narrow light and pedestrian lights are new. One standard light has been removed. I would assume it will be stored somewhere rather than disposed of. Commonly, spare halogens and LEDs are given to heritage railways for their crossings (usually old)

Okay but seriously, why did that one dude not turn his car engine off while waiting? Like is he joking me or something? Not only is it a waste of his own petrol, but it's harmful for the environment to burn fuels for no reason.
@UKLevelCrossingsChannel5 жыл бұрын
Theres not enough signs at crossings instructing vehicles to turn their engines off whilst waiting. I agree it's harmful to the environment 😐
