Nice one. Very through and fair. Spring tension is one of the key points of interest for me, so thanks for that too. Really handy to see the internals and learning the blades can be swapped over. Cheers

Well I just got mine (the blue one), my first Spyderco too - just had to see what all the fuss was about. First impressions very good - all you say about it is correct, and I'm most grateful to you for this video which helped me decide which version would suit me. Ultimately, the lighter weight swung it for me, even though the price is a bit silly. I'm looking forward to seeing how I get on with this knife, which is nothing like anything else I have in my lineup. It joins my Enzo PK70 (Black G10) and Manly Wasp S90V (Digicam) to complete what I think is a modestly fine UK-legal modern trio. I'll always favour my traditionals, but these make an interesting occasional alternative.

Adding a sharpening choil is fairly easy. You can use a 3mm diamond file, or a Dremel if you're very careful. Ive done this to all of their knives that I own, and it does make a large difference in sharpening

I have both these and like them a lot. UK Legal 'friendly' but maybe a bit too big for me to be comfortable with carrying. The Urban is a bit better but I find myself carrying the Byrd Tern over all of them. I highly recommend it. Not the best steel obviously but easier to bring back to a screaming sharpness. Thanks.

I'll have to get around to the Urban and the Tern, the steel is fine on both, especially for the price!

I'm pretty okay with knots etc, I've put a quick and very effective lanyard (fob) on my UKPK. Perhaps I should put it online so other people can do it too. I was on the design team, so maybe I have a little more experience with the UKPK. Not that there's much more to say after your comprehensive review.

Hi, Got 2 of each red s30 and 110s my grey bd1hollow grind i have convexed and I also have the titanim scaled s30v which also has ph washers, full back spring the blade is slightly thicker though. Used the frn b1s for work nearly every day for years, rarely oiled never stripped, usually cleaned with kitchen towl. The action is like new maybe a hair lighter and smoother same with back spring resistance, has no blade wobble, centering still good ever so slightly to the left looking at it closed tip down down because I r/h open putting thumb pressure in that direction. Yeh, I have tried a few other one hand openers Suru Fox, Rat 2 for work. Bestech Junzi looked promising but I think the Carbon Fibre inlay will catch, no other designs, looks, materials, no ball bearing pivot racers for me or review wise interests me, Suru was last go but for me the UKPK is still the best, feels so natural to use, very very rarely use pocket clip only at home. Usually sits in front right trouser pocket on it's own to proect and for easy access and boom it's open and ready to use 1 second after pulling my hand out. Awsome uk edc blade a big fan of the UKPKs. O and not having a sharpening choil doesn't bother me as they can catch when cutting, you could always put your own in there. Best UKPK review i've seen. Well done mate. ATB.. from Manchester

Cheers to you Matt! Great read, I must admit, I haven't seen the titanium UKPK, interesting that they chose a thicker blade stock. Your point about the sharpening choil rings true, I certainly have had them catch material at work, and it's great to hear that Evan after many years, the knife is still solid. Thanks! -Al

Great review! I wouldn't worry about the washers or lack thereof as it's not needed with FRN. It's kind of built in. Also, I think it's worth noting that BD1N on the standard UKPK is a massive step up from the CTS BD1 that it replaces and is probably a much better value than it was before.

@UKLegalCarryKnives5 жыл бұрын
They're very close, both flat grinds of course with the UKPK being a smidge thinner but also 1mm shorter on the edge so there's honestly not much in it between them, all I'd say is that because of the gimping and finger choil, you get better control over the Spyderco as you can choke up on the actual blade.
@suttonmatthew3 жыл бұрын
The wire clip is one of the most popular pocket clips on the Spyderco. I never heard of a broken clip.
@UKLegalCarryKnives3 жыл бұрын
It's been mentioned on reddit and other forums online about the occasional wire clip break, a quick google search will yield results. It is though, most definitely functionally fine, and I absolutely focused too much on it's occasional breakage in this review, a problem that nearly all users will ever encounter.

I do certainly prefer the g10 version as I prefer the scales, the steel is better on yours, as it happens, the one you got off of Paddy is very likely the same one in this video, I traded it to him a while back. I don't get why people care so much about the deep carry, it can't be seen or recognised approach. I prefer a bit sticking out the grab and get out easier, and frankly, as long as the knife is unlocking and 3 inches or less people can bitch all they want it's fully legal. Worst that happens is it makes for an interesting argument when a pcso notices it and starts claiming "your not allowed to be carrying that" but it's always funny watching them walk off with heir tail between their legs when you tell them the legislation says very clearly the opposite and you should know that more than I do given your profession. They usually try and twist and omit parts of the legislation in their favour so I memorised the important/relevant bits to shut that down immediately. The law says we can have them so why be so bothered about hiding them.
