Hey Pete, if you're watching this. When someone asks you what you're looking to sell them for, always toss the ball back into their court and let them give you a price first. This is a game we play when we're trying to find out what the buyer or seller is asking. I always say "Let's be fair because I want us both to be happy." Don't suggest a price. The buyer should make an offer, not the other way around. There are many fish in the sea and they are the ones who don't want to lose the deal.

As a former miner, I say what a great idea that drill/ washing plant is. But! I'd never sell it to a field buyer, he won't take the risks the miner does. If they're cut and polushed properly, and sold in Sydney to reputable dealers, the true wholesale value will be more likely to be realised. To find payable stones from a drill hole is like finding the proverbial needle in a haystack.

Skii Duu My very thoughts, I'd say well over a gram with the big one at the end. I wonder if he had said 30k would he still end up with 15k or if my way of thinking is right and a dealer laughs at your price it's a way of intimidating you for a better deal, stand up and go to leave, he wants what you stay and deal.
@lucditton60295 жыл бұрын
Skii Duu wasn’t that for black opal?
@zacpatton97785 жыл бұрын
That’s an up to retail price (in a piece of jewellery all cut to size) so the perfect opal (quality and colour changes value)in a ring or something. When they cut they lose a bit and the middlemen have to make money in the sale too.
@symonsheppard55195 жыл бұрын
Zac Patton Cutting loss is on average 30%. I hadn't realised that was retail, my bad.
@1.41425 жыл бұрын
That's only for the best stones. Opal price varies a ton, and is very hard to sell. Plus, you need the equipment and skills to cut it.
