The loss of Chasiv Jar will be a big disaster for the ukrains. Controll of Chasiv Jar means controll of the line Konstiantiniwka - Kramatorsk - Slowjansk. Look at the topographic map. In my opinion Chasiv Jar ist more important then Bachmut. And last but not least: HAPPY NEW YEAR FOR YOU AND EVERYONE HERE.

And to cut that, supplies to the advancing forces would have to cross Solona, and maybe Vovcha-Solona. If Ukrainans weren't mad, they would do what they do and wait that moment, cutting dry-ground-supply-lines Ocheretyne-Prohres- Novoselivka Persha. The very strong defenses left of the Bychok announce this plan ... And the Russian supplie-lines would become easy targets....having to cross rivers and swamps. Losses would become unsupportable. Russia has to take first controll of the road between Pokrovsk and Konstiantynivka, at least reaching Berestok- Torretsk. ... If not , they still can loose the war, if Ukraine continues to produce widows... Zelenski has to love that, widows. If Ukraina would loose this line, Tchassiv in Russian hands will empeach to employ Kostiantynivka to launch an offensif towards Ocheretyne -Berdychi- Novoselivka Persha . So they did build very serious defenses...

Though Chasivyar is currently not strategically important at this time, it will be once the RUAF go for Kramatosk. Might as well take Chasivyar while the Ukrainians can't put up a decent defense than wait & have to fight tooth & nail when the time comes.

I think Wyatt was being sarcastic. Chasiv Yar has always been strategically important. It formed a. vital defensive link in the important OTAN built defensive line running from south of Bahkmut to Slavyansk and Kramatorsk, which are the last remaining part of that defensive line built circa 2015.

It did seem to me that the strike on that convoy completely missed. Nothing blew up, at best some of the trucks got scratched on the surface. Since they were spotted by drones, I wonder if the RF couldn't have done something more efficient in terms of striking them...

Chasiv Yar is the key to the entire area. This guy is way off in his analysis saying that it does not matetr. Obviously matters very very very much and that is why it has been defended to the hilt. This guy thinks it has not fallen because the Russians did not want it. Not so, it had not fallen ebcause the Ukrainians know it MUST not fall and have given it their all to defend this very important place.

Hello....Myrolyubivka- Kleban Byk as very strongly defended position is not "for nothing" strongly defended... If crossing the Dniepr in the area of Mala Lepetykha to take Orkhiv-Surovikine in the back and to push to the Azov-sea would be to though ( open land..., and as long the Surovikine-line stands, vitally depending of the crossing of the Dniepr ) , Ukraina still can inverse the tide of war, at two conditions : main Russian offensive capacities , in spring, have crossed South-West running Vovcha and the Solona-river, heading to Samara and Byk , to reach Dobropillia from the west, to encercle Pokrovsk.... and the second condition, a counter -offensive from the positions on the Bychok-river , to take back the controll of Ocheretyne -Prohres... : That is still very close ... 8 km to Novosilka Persha. Ukraina could force Russian supplies to cross several rivers/swamps to support theoir forces, and force them to withdrawl behind the Vovcha and, "if lucky", Mokri Yali... This would have been the stale-mate-situation if Ocheretyne was better defended. But loose so all positions conquered this yar would be a serious blow to Russia. It IS a weak spot in the Russian front. Not non-sense. There could even happen a encerclement of Russian forces , in case of another offensif, along the Vovcha, heading east, but it would be exposed crossing in the area of Andriivka Kletsove.... If both are ready to continue to commet national suicide to please NATO... Better imagine a grant NATO OUT against restitution of conquested grounds. Empire-building is over....... Peace can be, Nato has "nothing to do" there...if Russia accepts that it is big enough....
