The answer is that Donbass was "privatized" by the group of military-boys (some members of "United Russia" have already stated they were financing their reigh) and they were pretty quick to make a referendum where they pulled the 11-dimensional perspective of vote-counting. Many people escaped from there, ending up in Mariupol (yeah, that one Mariupol). What happened next was what happens when the sovereign country gets the aforementioned stuff on its' territory. I'm not legalizing it, but what this girl tries to push the idea that Ukrainian government has been slaughtering its people for years while it took the term of 2014-2015 when Ukraine tried to keep its land in a conflict where the destruction of the military forces was the main point. Still, it caused innocents' deaths & was cruel.

Incorrect. The number killed does include civilians tragically. That number also includes Ukrainian armed forces, DPR and LPR rebel forces and Russian military. The problems in the Donbas are directly attributable to Russias support and encouragement of rebel dissent by a bunch of far-right thugs who wanted control of some eastern parts of Ukraine, many tonic Russians loyal to Russia. This dissent has grown to military takeover of Ukrainian territory and the establishment of Pro-Russian systems including laws banning Ukrainian being taught in schools, people being issued with Russian passports and so on. The DPR and LPR are guilty of numbers us crimes against citizens in the area as documented by Amnesty International and other groups. Russia has worked hard at ensuring a separatist region in Ukraine would cause problems for the Ukrainian governments and directly reflects the strategy Russia employed when it invaded Georgia in 2008 killing ethnic Georgians and recognising 2 pro-Russian regions in that country. Russia likes to make a lot of the problems in the Donbas as propaganda and justification for invasion of Ukraine, when it always wanted Ukraine and its resources.

Having visited Ukraine many times the last 10 years, I saw the fervent increase in Fascist nationalism and heard many sad stories about the terrorism that had been occurring there by nationalists having NATO arms. Having attempted to ask Ukraine to follow peacefully Minsk II for 7 years, what Russia is doing now is effectively implementing Minsk II using force. We can imagine European spectators viewing a hostile China-Russia-Iran military alliance terrorising Mexico, pushing US residents out of Mexico ans murdering many of them, then eventually the hostile military alliance supplying weapons with advanced planes and talking about placing nuclear weapons there, and then Washington still be so patient to wait 7 years with peace agreements. As the violence culminates without any US action, finally US allowing troops to try to end the terrorism in Mexico with the goal to return Mexico to its former sovereignty. All believable so far, but then imagine the entire media hysterically calling US as the aggressors in that situation.

Maria Zahkharova is correct. Even if - in a dream - Ukraine managed to kick the Russians out, then Ukraine would be filled densely with NATO militarisation and a larger war would ensue. It is better to negotiate with Russia now. If Ukraine negotiated with Russia, and it was not blocked by Washington, during 2021 then Ukraine would have been in a much stronger position. USA is killing Ukraine, literally. Logically the best for Ukraine to do right now is begin negotiating with Russia, but this option is being blocked by Washington, as it was from 2014 to 2022 in Washington blocking actions towards the Minsk II agreement.
