Industrialization is key to have a chance at very early game, latest you can spawn and realistically survive is January 20, all factories needed must have started construction by January 30, you got lucky Russia was not immediately interested in conquering you.

I can manage war exhaustion well, and infantry is really, really good at tearing through tanks once they are really tech upgraded.
