After months of campaigning, Ukraine has finally received Western tanks. They are expected to beef up its armored firepower for a potential offensive in the spring. Before the long-awaited vehicles arrived, Ukraine had to rely on Soviet-made tanks.

18 tanks is not going to constitute an offensive force. It's not even two companies worth. Put this in the right perspective, before the war Ukraine had thousands of battle worthy tanks and an indigenous tank repair/maintenance capability. They were all used up. That's all gone now. Almost all their tanks got either destroyed or damaged beyond repair. 18 tanks not going to do anything. They need more than a thousand, but who is producing them?

The comment about the T-80 being old, but easy to repair, reminds me of a story that was intended to represent traditional Russian tank design philosophy (originally regarding the T-34). An American temporarily assigned to a major Russian city (I don't remember which one) asked his Russian friend for a recommendation for the best washing machine, and went out and bought one. In a few months the machine broke down, and he complained to his friend saying he told him that was the best model. His friend replied that it was the best because when it breaks down it is the easiest to repair.

if the western tanks are operated correctly (operational, tactical, strategically) the ukrainians can push back every front line they desire. the range alone of the leopard, 5km distance, makes it impossible for the russians to hold that in check. just start attacks in the night. push back. install himars, push back, more. its gonna be insane.

True, but in an American or NATO tanker, averaging a 5th grade reading ability, and who is "supposedly" a High School Graduate, can MAINTAIN a tank in combat, I'm sure that the average Ukrainian tanker can learn to do the same! These western tanks have some important advantages in combat like very high reverse speeds that allow a tank to pull back from a possibly lethal situation. Russian tanks can reverse at about 4kph, Leopard 2s at over 30. Also western tanks have better gun stabilization and often optics and fire control. Which means they have a better chance of seeing a target first and firing first. Even the older Leopard 1 going to Ukraine will be a valuable addition to the Ukrainian defense effort.

A list of manipulations, lies, distortions, understatements. 0:00 "Picture with US, GB, DE and UA flags." The message is clear, for the concert of powers it supports Ukraine. We are talking about tanks, but they didn't even put in a Leopard 2A4 through Poland, only a Marder from Germany. 0:06 "Ukraine is finally reviewing Western-made tanks from Germany and Great Britain." Not a word that I started with Poland. 00:28 "Ukraine rely on Soviet-made tanks before delivery of the long-awaited vehicles." An obvious lie, because it was not possible for the Leopard 2A4s to enter combat use through Poland, to enter into operations in Poland and the T-72 (and apparently PT-91) to enter through Poland, yes. Better support for that depends on soviet style tanks. 02:27 They say that soldiers go out delivering tanks from friendly countries (of course, no one mentions which friendly country has already delivered over 200 tanks) and list the equipment/benefits of its operation: better maneuverability, operational goals, rangefinders, ammunition separation. what's the problem? Sights, modern rangefinders were already in some of the supplying tanks from Poland. Separation of ammo from event events is basically only in Abrams. 03:50 "Now Ukraine finally got these tanks." Again, the suggestion that the earlier delivery from Poland was not. 05:11 Where were the Ukrainians trained on Western tanks? Germany. Great Britain. Spain. Of course, not a word about Poland. 07:10 Please, only NOW Ukraine is servicing the tanks. From Germany. Let me not be mistaken. 07:55 Modern SKO - maybe someone will say if the system from Twardy is very strong than the one from 2A6? Because the 125mm ammunition from us is present from the one that the Germans can give 2A6 to, I'm sure, but is the SKO Hard from the 2A6 for fighting at night? 08:25 There are no tanks in Ukraine other than Soviet era or Western. Hard does not exist. He found them "Soviet style" again. 09:45 "European supplier of Leopards, (...) and everywhere Germany." To create not created about Poland. xD 10:10 "They asked for 300 tanks." There is a country that has already launched almost 300 tanks in Ukraine... What else is missing in the topic? Of course, not a word about the country that handles the lion's share of the logistics for these tanks to arrive, and which caused them to fire, be examined, or refueled. Any of the messages of observations is actually something strange, if not for the fact that there are so many of them, and in such an obvious case with the Polish issue. It fits in the series of other reports by this station sponsored by the German government. Many times before, they added that Ukraine did not get tanks as aid, even though Poland had been supplying them practically from the very beginning. They have repeatedly said that Marders are tanks (yes, I know it's Schützenpanzer in German, but this is a station run in the language by people who have access to experts who know that the Marder is not a tank). The supply of Krabs was repeatedly skipped during the exchange of standard artillery. It is not TVPiS, but they did not stand by the reliability.

It might not be, as main battle is with drone+artillery. Whoever has better kamikaze anti-artillery drones will prevail. At the moment russians do havoc with lancet drones. Mbts are final push. First no-fly zone, then artillery , then mbts and Ifvs and then infantry

I really don't care what people say about russian vs nato tanks. Nato's are faster forwards and backwards, better or just as good armor in most areas, and often have better tech. These guys need the upgrade.

Western tanks are super effective when used against mujahedeens or some tribes like that. Against modern army, when the odds aren't in their favour- they will be just better tanks and nothing magical about it.

@@alpejohnson491 "If they know how to do it"?! You think that makes sense? Are you suggesting that there is some sort of established training protocol that may or may not be applied to Russian tank crews (maybe they have a lucky draw) where they are taught this mysterious secretive strategy on how to successfully engage a 1990s Challenger 2 from a 1950s T54. I mean the main variables of tank strategy are pretty well established by now and the T54 is far weakest in all of them.

@@suburbia2050 What kind of arguement is this Why would they get a crew killed in a T-54 just so they could kill a chally theres barely any footage of tank on tank combat its most a tank having to get destroyed by mine fields or atgm's or artillery at best, tanks are always behind the enemy lines incase of the enemy trying to employ large armored formation to break through enemy lines thats when a tank could be used by the russians. Thats only if they find themselves outnumbered or overwhelmed by armor but thats a rare case scenario.

What bothers me is all the KZbin posts telling us that Ukraine is kicking Russian butts. Then the news reports how Zelensky is begging for more and better weapons. Yet the map does not change much. That is what worries me.
@kalsder

In the grand scheme of things that does mean that Ukraine is kicking their butts. Ukraine as a country is much weaker than Russia and in theory should have been annihilated within a few weeks at most. The fact that they are still going strong against what used to be called a super power is a very good thing.
