The casualties were directly a consequence of Stalins cannon fodder tactics and poor leadership. That did not change until 1943 at the battle of Kursk, when Stalin started listening to his generals, and military supplies improved thanks to the titanic US lend/lease supplies that were flooding into the USSR. Any victory at the price the USSR (all soviet peoples, not just russians) paid for conquering Berlin tasted as bitter as defeat. Stalin had already been terrorizing and mass murdering soviet citizens long before WW2, the war was just a continuation of the insanity and it wasnt the end.

I would bet the Russians have already developed their plans for the exercise involving tactical nuclear weapons. I have to say that when we are young, we are all entitled to make some mistake and learn as the years go by, but our leaders and politicians seem to have been under the influence of video games or something else and have forgotten the lesson of history. I have made many mistake throughout life and realized that the greed for money sometimes take us to the grave or prison, because when you are dead money no longer matter. British strategists devised "Operation Unthinkable," an apt name for what would have been World War III. This document is the property of His Majesty’s Government.
