Kyiv is so huge. I've been to the Capitol of Freedom four times since 24/2. I have used it for my hub to go to Kharkiv and Kramatorsk. I never have any luck meeting people there who I can see the city with or go for coffee. It is easier watching these videos just to see what is going on there than to travel there. I think that I will use the taxi more when I'm there so I can invite people to go for coffee and do things with. Taking public transportation, while great for the residents of Kyiv, is not so easy. The subway takes too long to just see the sites. The hills and stairs in the city are difficult to walk. It is easy to get tired I love Kyiv and I usually walk around the streets by myself, and I never meet people like I do in other smaller cities in Ukraine. Kyiv is too much like Chicago and New York. I think it is that the curfew prevents meeting people at bars. The residents of Kyiv don't find Americans so interesting, so they want to help them or learn from them. It may be that just talking to people as an American is too difficult for them. Many give up or don't think they can speak enough English to want to try to try to communicate. I think it is that people have schedules that they must be careful about since the war makes everything more difficult. Money is a big concern because it is more expensive in Kyiv then in smaller cities. They must be frugal with their money, but those I meet are very generous nonetheless and want to buy or pay. I always pay for the taxi or gas. I've traveled to Ukraine to help. I am there to be a friend. I have friends who I communicate with while I'm in the United State I plan to see again when I return. I have gifted money to Ukrainians who I believe need help and love. I have gifted to people like widows and orphans. I once gave an 18-year-old a $100 USD bill for a haircut she gave me. I want to surprise people. I know that Ukrainians don't want my money and most of my attention is paid on soldiers there. I think that Ukrainians really don't know who I am or what I am doing there. They don't want to do something that would be improper or to say something that they shouldn't. Of course, Ukrainians are very different people, and they are so smart. Of course, it takes time and energy and luck to be in the right place at the right time to meet someone who I can get to know better. In sum, I'm there to stand with the Ukrainians and to try to experience what they do, albeit, it's not easy to understand. It takes a very special perosn to want to meet me I think. To show me the buildings that have been struck around the city and the storeis behind them takes someone who has pride for his or her city and country. To take me to their homes and to meet family and to talk and share stories and share shrmp, mussels, crayfish with beer and nuts with me while russian rockets hit around the city and Ukrainian artillery fires back takes a special person. I have met these speical persons. We must stand shoulder to shoulder and be strong together and we must laugh from time to time. I hope the 16 year old waitress I met in Kramatorsk in 2023, and who planned to attended college in Kyiv is in university. I met her again in July of 2024, and I gifted her $200 USDs. She didn't want to accept it but i told her I was leaving it on the counter and she had no choice. She had been in the Ria Lounge when it was sruck by a russian missile in late June of 2023. She was just about to turn 17 and she should now be eighteen and living a univerity student's life under very unusally circmstances of the war. I hope she used some of the money to buy new clothes. In July, I bought roses in Kramatorsk and laid them at the memorial at the Ria Lounge. Slava Ukraine! +

beautiful images as always but I don't understand one thing: all the European media write that every day Kiev is bombed, then I see your images and I see a normal life of all the people, quiet walks, cafes, restaurants people in the parks like any other city of the world. so where is the truth??

So there was all truth ) Every morning and night we have shelling, than everybody live like nothing was happened. Human can be adapted for everything. When you live constantly in that condition you stop to react dramatically. Yet another death, yet another shelling. yet another destroyed house- nothing new, let's drink coffee.

We are really bombed, last time drones attack Kyiv almost each night, but when you in the city during a day whenand where there is no attacks you can see normal life, attack happens not each moment...and almost at night time
