Hi Tanya! Ilovaisk was so long ago, it seems. I still remember the shock and despair of that event---also the embarassment of the West refusing to take any actions against Putin. More war crimes! Yes, the UA manufacture of long-distance missiles/drones seems essential now, as the USA and NATO will likely always remain hesitant to seize the opportunities offered. I can only hope that Kamala Harris will be a more assertive president than Biden. Putin sees Biden’s old-fashioned “diplomacy” as mere weakness, sadly…. Europe’s support seems mostly strong, especially in support of UA’s economy, and ruzzia is obviously in rapid decline, with putin always wary of a much-anticipated coup. Keep us updated from Kyiv? Hope to visit in springtime! …Lyle ☀☀☀

Tanya, "hello" I have been wanting to meet someone in or from Ukraine for a long time. Maybe that can happen vicariously through your channel. This whole situation has torn me up. I'm half Russian, I have friends and "adopted" family in Russia (my bestfriend/soulmates family welcomed me as an honorary family member, the highest honor in Russian culture), please forgive me for being half Russian and having Russian friends as it is what it is. I love Ukrainian people as much as Russian people and other people of east European background. My bestfriend / soulmate is Russian and we met a few months after her bestfriend who was Ukrainian was killed in 2014 with Putin's invasion of Crimea. Yes, a Russian with a Ukrainian bestfriend! All of that was normal before all this mess. My soulmate's best friend was sitting in her living room in her village/town when fighting broke out and she was hit by a bullet. We don't know if it was Russian or Ukrainian and it doesn't matter. What matters is that it happened. I met my soulmate around the first few months of 2015. When the full awful invasion/war started two years ago February (seems like longer), both my soulmate and I were already hoping it would not happen, but it did and we were very upset. She left Russia and is now living in Armenia because of what Putin did. Many Russians are upset at what he did. All this killing and violence is completely not needed! This happens when you have more than one selfish madman or leadership fighting to rule the world. The Russian army is comprised of more criminals than ordinary Russians these days. I had to give up a friend of mine I had known for 8 or 9 years in Russia because of this war. I got to watch his wonderful daughter grow up and I was one of very few people allowed to communicate with her. She is going to college for the first time. She is different from her dad now from what I heard, but we have lost communication. Her dad, my friend was apolitical and open to others before, but when the war started he had already befriended some racist bad acquaintances from the USA that I warned him about and he said they would not influence him. Sadly, eventually they did. He is now very political and hates Ukrainians buying into Putin propaganda that all Ukrainians are nazis. That is just too wrong for me and ridiculous. We started disagreeing on everything. We have not spoken since 2020. I got a note from him about a year ago just saying that he doesn't hate me. I don't hate him either, but we can no longer be friends. I can't imagine the suffering of Ukrainian people, but I do feel it. Tanya, your English is very good! You have a similar accent to my bestfriend and I love it!! I know a small few words or phrases in Russian, but none in Ukrainian. (My grandparents tried to tech me Russian, but I was too young to have interest. They were from Russia and spoke Russian, English, Yiddish and Spanish. They learned English better and Spanish in the US). I also can't tell the difference between the two languages. They sound alike to my ears, but that is because I do not know the details.

I politely disagree with you though on one point you made (we would not want to give putinoids any credit when none is due). Putin did NOT take Crimea peacefully. I understand you would say that because s h o t s were not fired. The sending or armed troops by itself constitutes a takeover by force, and initially lying about it added an element of deceit, so, there was actually nothing peaceful about the process, it was an act of aggression.
@pacifist98052 ай бұрын
Yes, it happened forcefully and I think some Ukrainians lost their lives.
@JasonRule-12 ай бұрын
Yes, it was aggressive but was not carried out using active shooting or mortars or artillery or other weapons. Keep in mind that army's can also be used for protection. And considering that the government had just been overthrown in a coup d'etat by the US and CIA and that the new illegal usurpers were themselves using weapons and violence, military protection of the people was required and carried out by Russia.
