Ukraine stops issuing passports to men of fighting age living abroad | Ukraine update

Ukraine has stopped issuing new passports to some military-aged men living abroad as part of a bid to pressure them to return home to fight. The move is temporary and comes the day after the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry suspended consular services for men from 18 to 60 years old. Long queues formed at passport offices in European countries after Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba announced the measures. The limits come shortly after Ukraine adopted a new, stricter mobilization policy to shore up forces amid gains by Russia on the battlefield.

Ukraine can delay the Russian victory, but not stop it. The west knows they lost, but they need time to shift the attention of the public towards another conflict in order to distract them and save face. Also, it's not just about men, but economy. The West cannot sustain sending these expensive weapons in Ukraine because there they become an easy target for Russia. Last year, before the famous Ukrainian counter-offensive they used the argument of the "investment" to justify the enormous cost of supporting Ukraine. In other words, after the victory we'll regain back our money, but now that the counter-offensive failed this argument doesn't hold anymore.

Men in ukraine are almost slaves at this point, the freedom of movement basically doesn't exist, and new laws are restricting the rights further and further. There will be no de-mobilization for men who have been fighting since the beginning which means that if you end up on the frontlines, you will be there until you die (or are severely injured). On the other hand, women are living how they were used to. If it's a war for survival then it seems every single one should participate in one way or the other. I'm confident that there will be no help from the west to win the war, they're opting for dragging this war for as long as possible so neither side wins (because you know, de-escalation). The blood of the dead is on their hands too

This relatively massive number of working class men and women throughout the world are commanded, paid and supervised by a chain of command that leads back to a relatively minuscule number of ruling and political class men and women. I’ll start supporting Ukraine if Ukraine actually drafts well connected/ Ukrainian high society. Ukrainians that are rich and well connected (who got them in this situation) should be on the front lines, but I’m sure like most countries on the high index rating for corruption, they’re just gonna use the poorest people in Ukraine to fight.
