Ukraine War: on the front lines with the 68th Brigade

As Ukraine's biting winter begins to turn into spring, the war in the east is exacting a heavy toll on both sides.

In Bakhmut, Russian forces appear to have the advantage, having laid waste to the town but as yet failing fully to control it.
While in Vuhledar, a rail and road hub 100 miles to the south, the Ukrainians retain the upper hand for now.
Our International Editor Lindsey Hilsum spent the day with the 68th Brigade on the front lines close to Vuhledar and sent this report.

One big tragedy here are these relatively ignorant civilians, who should long ago have gotten out of the area so that the Ukrainian army can fight unrestricted. They do not understand how their presence there makes fighting that much harder. They say that they had nowhere to go, but that is totally untrue, as millions of Ukrainian refugees have fled west to Europe and are being supported and cared for. So, either ignorance or unwillingness has hurt not only them, but the Ukrainian side.

Air defence facilities have shot down 15 Ukrainian UAVs near Novaya Zburyevka, Golaya Pristan (Kherson region), Semyonovka (Zaporozhye region), Kremennaya, Rubezhnoye, Krasnorechenskoye (Lugansk People's Republic), Novoandreyevka (Donetsk People's Republic) and Lyman Vtoroy (Kharkiv region). In addition, an attempt by Kiev regime to conduct a massive drone attack on facilities on Crimean peninsula has been prevented. Six Ukrainian UAVs have been shot down by Russian air defence means. Four more Ukrainian UAVs have been rendered inoperable by electronic warfare. There were no casualties or destruction on the ground. In total, 391 airplanes, 211 helicopters, 3,281 unmanned aerial vehicles, 406 air defence missile systems, 8,086 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, 1,045 fighting vehicles equipped with MLRS, 4,240 field artillery guns and mortars, as well as 8,621 units of special military vehicles have been destroyed since the beginning of the special military operation." This person means we are finally taking the fight to get back our cities inside Ukraine's internationally recognized territory and borders. No one is attacking Russia's internationally recognized territory especially not Moscow. He is being a Karen because he doesn't want us taking back cities he recently took. If we attacked anything in Russian territory it would be those long range missile sites Putin fires the missiles from that target the civilian infrastructure. Anything else he claims we want to or "did" attack, just ask him to allow a third party international investigation team check out his claim. If he doesn't let any international credible third party investigators, that he does not control, into Russia to investigate his claim, he staged it himself. He has done it a hundred times in Ukraine. He doesn't have a problem attacking his own land to create or change his narrative. Don't let him get away with it. Ask for third party investigations that the UN leaders will know Putin can't control them, then let's see who did it.

If they do then it probably wont be until way later this year and after they get the rest of the western armor. Russia has a large equipment and numerical advantage that isnt going to change anytime soon so going on the offensive with a 10 to 1 numbers disadvantage aswell as an equipment disadvantage is highly unlikely. Ukraine is going to have to work around the coming russian offensives and slowly diminish the russians numbers enough to where they can create weak points in the frontline that their offensives can then exploit to gain ground
