UKRAINE WAR: Positions overrun! Expert reveals! "They show Russian weaknesses very clearly!"
After Ukrainian troops advanced into the Russian region of Kursk, fighting in the border region has continued for the third day in a row, according to Moscow. The Russian armed forces and border guards are preventing Ukrainian units from advancing deeper into Kursk, the Russian Defense Ministry said. At the same time, the Russian army is attacking Ukrainian forces that are trying to advance from the Ukrainian border region of Sumy.
The acting vice-governor of Kursk, Andrei Belostotsky, told the state news agency Ria Novosti on Thursday that "the enemy has not advanced a single meter" but is in retreat. In addition, the enemy's equipment and combat troops are being "actively destroyed".
The Washington-based think tank Institute for the Study of War announced on Wednesday that Ukrainian troops had advanced up to ten kilometers into Russian territory. However, these figures have not been confirmed. Ukrainian government officials have not yet commented on the extent of the operation around the town of Sudzha. It is not possible to independently verify the Russian figures. Disinformation and propaganda play a central role in war.
White House National Security Spokesman John Kirby also declined to comment on the Ukrainian operation in Kursk on Wednesday. However, the US government has contacted Kiev to better understand what is going on. Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin described the Ukrainian move on Wednesday as a "large-scale provocation".
