UKRAINE WAR: Trump meets Putin! “This war is also exhausting the Russians!” Peace possible?
US President-elect Donald Trump says he is preparing a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. “He wants us to meet, and we are in the process of organizing it,” Trump said on Thursday (local time) before a meeting with Republican governors at his Mar-a-Lago residence in the US state of Florida. The planned meeting is therefore intended to end the war in Ukraine.
Trump takes office on January 20. During the election campaign, he repeatedly criticized US military aid to Ukraine and announced that he would restore peace in Ukraine “within 24 hours” of taking office. This was met with skepticism in Ukraine and in the capitals of its allies: Kiev fears that Trump could force Ukraine to make major concessions to Moscow.
