Anna in our city in the USA, we have a Christmas tree lighting ceremony, we requested a young Ukrainian to light this tree as many government officials stood by and one of the largest gatherings, of Ukrainian citizens and American citizens you may ever see at one time in a city like ours. This is in complete dedication from our city to touch all Ukrainians across the world. With all our care and unconditional love and more Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, and our city capital is lit up in lights of the colors of Ukrainian flag Blue and Yellow

David, it constantly amazes me how little I know about world around me. I am of the generation (81yo) that thought the eastern bloc countries were pretty much part of the Soviet Union voluntarily. Except east Berlin, of course. Until we had Hungarian refugees come into my high school. We were just learning about the Russian revolution and the bullies Lenin and Stalin. It was almost more than my immature brain could absorb. Then , while I was in the AF stationed in Germany, I got to tour East Berlin passing through Checkpoint Charlie. What a grey place! I saw very few people out and about and no smiles. That’s when I finally comprehended it all. To think that 50yrs later Ukraine is fighting a bully of a different name is horribly astonishing and what Anna is doing is nothing less than heroic! Patricia 👵🏻 🙁

Then when it was over we would visit our friends down the street that were part of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and do it all again. Tight grouped community, made for wonderful memories.
