The current war proved that a modern economy based necessarily on highly concentrated essential assets cannot be defended against modern weapons (drones, missiles)- even targeting one essential component brings the domino down. No point in capturing a Nuclear Plant when on strike on the transformers or other critical parts of the high voltage line puts it in inability to deliver the energy. The Ukrainian planners acted based on ancient Chinese principles of Sun Tzu Art of war, attacking only where the enemy is weakest. Even highly defended Russian warships in the Caspian Sea were recently damaged by Ukrainian drones. The damage that a smart defender technologically advanced can do to the economy of an attacker is now immense in 2024.
