Slava Ukraini Inna. Once the war is over, Europe and Ukraine have a bright future together thanks to people like you who reach out and teach us about Ukraine. I hope that we don't ever let your country down again. We hope and pray for EU membership for Ukraine, and hopefully, my country (UK) will rejoin too after the Russians created a propaganda campaign that made us leave.

Happy Easter Inna from our Ukrainian family in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada. You are an inspiration to us and we thank you for taking the time and great effort to share your life experiences via your posts. We pray for you and the people of Ukraine everyday and our Ukrainian community does everything we can to support humanitarian needs by donating through various fundraisers, wearing blue and yellow ribbons on our shirts, hanging wreaths on our front doors made with silk flowers containing yellow sunflowers and blue poppies, participating in organized demonstrations and displaying the Ukrainian flag on our cars and windows. I pray you will be joined with your family again very soon. God bless you and the wonderful work you do supporting your country, being brave, and educating us on the Ukrainian language. You are loved around the world. 🇺🇦🐰🌷💕🇺🇦

Best wishes from Poland. It was also a sad Easter for us. It's hard to be happy when a friend is in trouble. We are in the Catholic rite, but our customs are very similar. In Poland, we go with a basket full of food on Easter Saturday. The basket must contain: boiled eggs, bread, sausage, salt, pepper, horseradish, cake and a sugar lamb or a plaster lamb figurine. Each item in the basket has an important symbolic meaning. I wish you strength and health. In my region we say: " If you are healthy and you are strong, you can achieve anything "

Sweet, beautiful friend - I'm so sorry you missed Easter with relatives on your side of your family but I'm so happy that you had your husband's family to share it with. Your basket decor is lovely! As someone who has done cross-stitch embroidery, I appreciate the dedication to the beauty of the fabric wrap. As someone who also is not a good artist, I can identify with needing to decorate Easter eggs with store-bought decorating kits 😄 You are making such a difference for people around the world. Not only your experience, education, and talent for teaching - but simply by being who you are. Your fellow Ukrainians are proud of you, we're proud of you, and we LOVE you, too! Please take care of yourself for some relaxation. We're not going anywhere! XOXOXOX

The name of the Easter cakes always makes me chuckle a bit. It sounds almost the same as the Icelandic word for Easter Paskar. Sorry to hear about your folks, this feeling is one I'm not happy to say I'm also familiar with. ah... those stamps are to popular now. Seen them on sale for as much as 400$ for the single stamp.

In Ukraine it costs $1 per one peach. It is just impossible to buy.
@SzalonyKucharz2 жыл бұрын
The name comes from Pascha, the Passover Holiday. In the Orthodox Church tradition Easter is also known as Passover. Funny that while the Ukrainian name for Easter literally means the Great Day, the Polish word for Easter means 'the Great Night'. Passing from Night to Day, Death to Life, Winter to Spring.
@thorolfurhydarius64812 жыл бұрын
@@SzalonyKucharz This made me wonder where the name for it in Icelandic comes from and after a bit of googling I found this: Páskar: (which originally comes from the Hebrew word pesaḥ or pesach which means "pass", "walk over" but came into Icelandic through the word pascha in Latin) is a common name for one of the main Jewish festivals and the largest festival in Christian tradition. However, they have little else in common Always interesting to learn something new, even if it's just trivia that will likely not be directly useful
@glyncaemawr69572 жыл бұрын
In Welsh Easter is Pasg. So I also smiled when I heard the name of the Easter cake.
@SzalonyKucharz2 жыл бұрын
@@thorolfurhydarius6481 Christian Easter and Hebrew Pascha actually have a lot in common. They're major springtime religious festivities, pretty much celebrated at the same time. The Jewish Pascha has just ended this Saturday, a day of the week which by the way is субота in Ukrainian.
