Theyre wrong about using anti aircraft guns for land targets as being unconventional. Probably the most prolific and best anti tank weapon in ww2 was the german 88mm canon which was an anti aircraft gun

Do... do you not know what the word "unconventional" means? The use of the 88 as an anti-tank gun was also unconventional; a last ditch effort to halt a French armored thrust into German rear areas. By the very definition its use was "unconventional" as armed forces generally don't design anti-aircraft guns with the aim of taking out heavily armored tanks... That'd be like making a shovel with the goal of cooking eggs. Sure you can cook an egg on it, but nobody looks at a shovel and says "frying pan"

what? it's still unconventional to use AA for tanks and it always will be. unconventional and unprecedented do not mean the samething. in modern warfare, these tactics are far from conventional. the real "unconventional tactics" that people dont realize is the ukrainians' mass adoption of IED/roadside bombs and medieval booby traps, mostly because of the stigma of those tactics in the western world and the reluctance of the western media to report any Ukrainian impropriety on the battlefield, and since so many americans and coalition forces were killed and mamed by them over the decades in protracted middle eastern conflicts. People are thinking of this conflict as good versus evil, and in many ways it is, but that doesn't mean that there isn't a murky underbelly of tactics used by both sides, that the general public won't be aware of for years to come, after this conflict is over

@@westonhemperley5289 the Japanese used an AA gun in their later tanks, the American M16 gun carriage (aka meat grinder), the Serbs used the Praga during the Bosnian conflict, I could list more. Historically it has been a fairly common thing. You adapt what you have in a war. So not unconventional at all. In fact, it is very conventional. It is less common in large modern armies, as they have specialised everything.

I look at a shovel and I see that it can be used as a weapon. Yes you could hit people over the head with it but if you have time and a stone you can sharpen the edge to razor sharp and then you really have a useful weapon.
