Let me clarify the position of Serbia and Serbs. For us, this is not a black and white situation, it is complicated on several levels. We have nothing against Ukraine, do not support any war in the world and we support normal Ukrainian civilians and we are not happy about what is happening but with what is happening in Ukraine, the USA is heavily involved, and we cannot be on the side of the USA (which has never been punished for its crimes against many countries and which led Ukraine to this situation). Majority of Serbs are sick of double standards, hypocrisy and interference in other countries by the EU and the USA, and they yearn for justice. The West has been practicing double standards for a long time. According to them, what is valid for some countries is not valid for others and vice versa. They refer to international law in those cases when it suits them, and in other places they ignore it and have repeatedly violated it themselves. As far as Serbia is concerned, the West applied and continues to apply double standards. For example, they say that they support Ukrainian sovereignty and territorial integrity and that they support them in the fight against "separatists", so how come the Ukrainians are not "aggressors" as they called the Serbs, and the Serbs fought against separatists and terrorists within then one and their own sovereign state of Yugoslavia which had its own laws and constitution that the West violated, plus it did not attack or threaten any NATO member (and according to their rules and laws, NATO can only react if a member is attacked and they violated it in Yugoslavia, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan and many other countries). How is it that Spain is not the aggressor when it violently prevented separatists in Catalonia in 2017, not to mention many other examples. There are also endless ultimatums and extremely incorrect behavior towards our country and people to the point of racism and discrimination towards Serbs (serbophobia). We do not hate Ukrainians, on the contrary, we understand the pain that ordinary civilians go through but we do not look favorably on their leadership, which brought Ukraine into this situation together with the West. We have experience, we know what is happening and why, Ukraine is unfortunately only an American instrument against Russia. We have no one but Russia to protect our interests, all others are American puppets. Nobody should trust the West, we are the image and example of a country that was an ally of that same West, that same France and the USA that betrayed us, they have no allies and friends, only interests. We all want the war to end as soon as possible, for us this is very painful because we never made division between Russians and Ukrainians. The official country is neutral, it condemned the attack in the UN but did not introduce sanctions because it would be suicide for many reasons and it would be spitting on Serbian victims, Libyan victims, Iraqi victims, Afghan victims, Vietnamese victims and many others for which the USA and NATO are not punished, were not sanctioned, their athletes and artists were not banned, etc. which is unfair and hypocritical.

Typical serbian mythomania. According to SFRJ constitution republics had the right to secede (and, autonomous regions too!), Serbs didn't accept it and started wars of aggression. The west didn't betray Serbia, USA even supported united Yugoslavia up until the end of 1991 when the war was going on for several months. Serbs are angry at the west because the west didn't let them change the borders through war and annex a third of Croatia and two thirds of Bosnia and Herzegovina, expelling and killing non-serbs and dissidents. Serbs bombed Sarajevo for 4 years and say with no proofs that the bosnians bombed themselves, while crying for the brief bombing in 1999. Everyone who could seeked independence from Belgrade, ask yourself why! Spain didn't kill or expel Catalans, and the west didn't consider Kosovo independence until after the war when it was clear Serbia couldn't govern it. Serbs have very primitive politics, they only want to expans their state no matter what, to hell with other considerations. They may rule over ruins, but the state would have more square kilometers!

38:27 "Obviously, on the other hand, there was a reason for that (bombing and NATO aggression), and because of this very radical move, the government in Serbia was changed and this country stood for progress and development." Just imagine some Russian vloger on any other foreigners to go in the center of Kyiv or any other Ukranian city and to start talking this same things about Ukraine, and that bombing of Ukraine was radical but necessary move, and that after that Ukraine would be better country bla bla...? Can you imagine that, and what kind of your reaction would be if you can? Too confident behavior of one foreigner to come in front of ruins caused by USA and NATO bombs and start lecturing us, about our own history, even if you have different opinion or knowledge about that, still you have much more polite and careful way of saying that. And also, interpreting everything on the basis of the current war and black and white pictures is also quite problematic. Because now you as Ukranian starting just to apply and repeat western propaganda against us, and their justification for war, and destruction of the country. But I understand, that now you as Ukranian wouldn't really say that Americans did the same thing as Russians are doing now, because it is not too wise now to speak badly about Americans and your NATO friends, regarding the current situation... I know what your purpose is, and I see that you are doing everything possible for your own country and for her cause, and that you are trying to spread voices and narratives of probably big amount of people in Ukraine to other countries and to provide as much support as possible for Ukraine, and that is perfectly okey, really. Just don't be to ignorant and arrogant, and start lecturing us, there are better and more polite ways for what you are doing, and in the bigger part of the video you behaved totally normal and decent. You say that the Russians cant be trusted and that it is very dangerous to be near them, and who knows, maybe that is true, I certainly leave room for such possibilities and for situations where other states have a radically different historical experience with them. But this same logic could and should be applied also for you new strongest allies (and friends?), and not forget that being US enemies is bad, but being US friend is even worse... Different countries have different experiences and relationships with the same countries, applying binary or black and white logic is not too smart. All the best, and enjoy in Serbia.

Serbia doesn't want to impose sanctions on Russia, because the Serbian people have lived with the worst imaginable sanctions only 25 years ago and know very well how sanctions have no significant impact on the politicians leading a war, but have a rough impact on the civilian population. Serbs consider both Ukranians and Russians as brothers of the same Christian Orthodox church and wish, more than anything, peace for both the Ukranian AND Russian people. People living in the Balkans know how politics are capable of dividing and destabilizing entire regions, so I think they want peace more than any other European country, and they wish the exact same for Ukraine… Did you come to enjoy the country that you’re visiting, or to drag it into some kind of stigma and involve it in a conflict which is 1500 km away from the Serbian border and has absolutely nothing to do with Serbia?

Regarding Serbian identity and your comments that small nations started to develop their own identities in the 19th century, I can say you are wrong regarding Serbs. Serbs are among a small number of European nations that developed their identity in the Middle Ages, especially in the 12 and 13th centuries, even before Big nations such as Germany. At that time, no Balkan nations such as Bosniaks, Montenegrins, or Macedonians existed. In the 19th century, they only fought back to free themselves from the long-time Ottoman occupation. At that time the geographic term(not ethnic like your delusional mind thinks) "Dobri Bosnjani" wouldn't exist for another 500 years. Actually modern day Serbia is one of the oldest inhabited land in Europe, before the Slavs migrated there there were other civilisations that lived there. Later om many empires and people moved and ruled over that area and people mixed, than in the 6th and 7th century the great slavic migration started and the slavs came to what is todays balkan peninsula, mixed with the locals who lived there and so on. Also many empires ruled in that area, cause it was also strategically an important place for many things.Over time empires were made and people ruled over one another and fought one another and others aswell. For a long time it was a part of the eastern roman empire or byzantine empire till the turkic tribes from Central Asia came and formed the ottoman empire and ruled over SERBIA for nearly 550-600 years, some area of Serbia was also under the Austro-Hungarian empire. So todays Serbia existed for a very long time and many great empires ruled in these lands and many great kings and leaders were born on this land. BE proud Serbia, you got a rich history and who says otherwise simply does not know much about history at all.

Another thing that might be interesting to Ukrainians. Ukrainians have lived in today's Serbia for about 250 years. Look for "Ukrajinska zajednica u Srbiji". They have schools, local magazines and other printed media, radio and even TV in Ukrainian. Although there are only about 5000 of them they have full minority status and rights. Serbia is, to my knowledge, the most multicultural country in Europe, excluding maybe some Caucasian areas. I am half Romanian and I have heard and read about what Romanians say about their minority situation in Ukraine, which is far from perfect. One way to get our countries closer could be to cooperate and learn from each other in areas such as minority politics.

Are you talking about Rusyns (Ruthenians) who come from western Ukraine? Because the situation there is a bit complicated, because there are Rusyns who consider themselves a completely different nation from Ukrainians and Russians, and their language sounds like a mixture of Russian, Ukrainian, Slovak and Serbian. There are Rusyns who consider themselves Ukrainians, but there are also those who consider themselves Russians. But Poles also came from Galicia and other parts of Poland. For example Bogdan Jugović Heinz, Vojvoda Bogdan (1882 - 1905), infantry lieutenant and Chetnik duke was the son of a Polish immigrant and a Serbian woman, than Stanislav Krakov (mixed Serbo-Polish-Jew), Stanislav Sotenmajer (son of a Polish-German immigrant from Galicia and a Serbian woman who died at the age of 15 in the Battle of Cer, his father forbade him to go because he was young and his two older brothers had already gone as volunteers, but he escaped because he loved Serbia and said that he must defend it at the cost of his life) ect. And then there are monarchist people who came from Ukraine after the October Revolution, but most of them considered themselves Russians.

As a bosnian I'd say that you've got to symphatize with Serbia and Serbians as well. The west accepts for example the independence of Kosovo but doesn't do the same for Russia's anexation of Crimea. Double standards at its best. Their contempt for NATO and the west is kind of reasonable given their history. I'd just wish they'd be more neutral and less supportive of Russia. Russia is just as evil as the USA. Whatever is happening now in Ukraine and in Europe, is to the detriment of Europeans, we are suffering from this, the Americans on the other hand are profiting from this just like they did during the two world wars. History's repeating itself. Europe should stick together, be independent, regard its own interests and stop being just an USA puppet.

Ukrainians can only be very grateful to the Russians, because they sacrificed millions of their young men to increase Ukraine by several times. Most of Ukraine was practically uninhabited because the Tatars drove out the entire population, and only when Russia drove them out did the Russians allow the Ukrainians to settle there alongside the Russians, Moldovans, Armenians, and also the Balkan nations, and there they all used the Russian language for mutual communication. Now, all these nations became Ukrainized within a few centuries.

The main question is whether "civilized Western countries" have learned? I think the answer is obvious to everyone - NO. I can bet that in a year we will have a new target of the "highly humane west", not counting the current attacks that are not talked about in the west (Yemen, Somalia, Mali, Sudan,...etc). There was a reason for Russia invasion just like for NATO aggression. Pity how he can not make the analogy of NATO aggression on Serbia and Russian aggression on Ukraine. This guy is very biased and anti-Serbian. He even put Kosovo on his map, while Ukraine as a state respects teritorial integrity of Serbia and vice versa, Serbian state respects territorial integrity of Ukraine, even Crimea, and condemns Russian invasion. Also, Serbs and other Yugoslavs said NO to Stalin, Serbs stood up to Russian imperialism under Stalin, just as Serbs opposed Hitler or NATO expansionism and imperialism. Serbia is still friends with Russia, also France (monument dedicated to France was covered during criminal NATO aggression, that this guy whitewashes - well, now you have Russian aggression under exactly the same pretexts, 1999 referenced even by Putin directly, this guy fails to mention this and even has this blaiming the Serbs, thinly veiled while his hypocrisy fails to see the analogy to his own state), even USA despite their recent hostility. Serbia is fiercely independent nation that stood up to Stalin, to NATO, to Hitler, and while some great powers were friendly at times Serbs have no illusions. As for Slavic broterhood it exists, but Serbs are much closer and similar to Greeks or even Romanians, while USSR had some influence so did USA or France or even Germany, az for recent politics, both China and Russia oppose independence of Kosovo and have in fact never bombed or occupied Serbia which carries some weight. Also, this guy fails to mention many important parts of history of 20th century in this video, but in other videos he openly sides with Serbian enemies, even putting Kosovo on a map while bitching about Putin T-Shirts that he did not found, and some grafiti that are all over the place. What he fails to understand is that what he said about Russian imperialism holds true for EU imperialism and Serbs know this full well as its malignant influence (USA neoimperialism too) is only too acutely felt. Those in Serbia who support Russia and China do not support them for their versions of imperialism, like Chinese supression of Muslims or Russian autocracy and imperial ambitions, but as antidote to a greater evil, which is USA/Eu exploitation and hegemony all over the world - they started by bombing Serbia, then Iraq, Libya, exporting "democracy" in bloody imperialist push. Now Russia is taking page from the same book emulating this evil wanting its slice to exploit, even China wants to expand its influence in Africa and all over the world though more peacefuly but not without risks for the small nations. It is such hypocrisy to criticise Russia and to fail to even see what NATO did with Kosovo and Donbass being analogous separatist regions (and separatists republics in ex-yu, that he also sides with). But he seems to drink the CNN cool aid, just like Ukrainians did from Moscow, until it will be too late and they will be paying the vasal debts from Moscow or Washington, either way. Serbia had good experience in balancing great powers to maintain its independence, it is doing it now and Belgrade did it in Tito's Yugoslavia before, could learn from that - but no, all those opportunitues are lost to this biased, thinly veiled anti-Serb!

You want to say that Russians are not also Orthodox. You have no idea what you are talking about, if it is not too late, start reading a little about the historical and spiritual ties between Russians and Serbs... The fact that both Russians and Serbs are of Slavic origin is not as important as the fact that both are of the Orthodox faith. Once upon a time, Slavs were pagans, until they accepted Orthodoxy and recognized the One True God, Jesus Christ. You may be wondering why I do not mention Ukraine. When I mention Russia, I also mention Ukraine. Because Ukraine is Russia, just like Kosovo is Serbia.

Yes, Russia is using Serbia for their interest, but USA is using Ukraine as well. You have to understand that 40 years ago Albanian minority in southern part of Serbia started upraising against Serbia with the goal to be independent. In 1998. USA administration listed KLA as terrorist's organization, not without reason. They were killing police members, even a postmen just for wearing uniform that represent Serbian state. I will try to pull parallels with todays Ukraine for better understanding. Albanians from Kosovo were Russians from Donbas, and USA was Russians. Suddenly, USA decided to support KLA Albanians and bomb the whole Serbia for 78 days and nights until our army withdrawal from Kosovo. More then 1000 civilians were killed, all the bridges and factories destroyed, and BDP dropped 200%. According to the Human Rights Watch, 200,000 Serbs and thousands of Roma fled from Kosovo during and after the war. Homes of minorities were burned and Orthodox churches and monasteries were destroyed. NATO and USA Army entered Kosovo and established military camp, one of the largest outside USA. And what you think, should we trust Americans or Russians? I'll tell you. We shouldn't trust anyone as we are just a pawns in bigger chess game.

Thanks for the nice report about Belgrade. First of all, for the sake of Ukrainians, I would like to clarify the positions of Serbia and Serbs regarding Russia. We are pro-Russian oriented but not anti-Ukrainian, we are rather anti-NATO oriented. A little more than two decades ago, NATO killed our civilians and children, bombed cities, bridges, civil infrastructure, national television, where journalists died while doing their job. NATO occupied the southern Serbian province of Kosovo and sponsored the so-called independence of Kosovo and they installed the American military base Camp Bondsteel on the occupied Serbian territory. Historically, of all the great powers, the most favorable to the Serbian side was Russia, of course, and for its own reasons. Germany, the biggest European power today, attacked Serbia three times in the 20th century in 1915, 1941 and 1999. As I can understand Ukrainians in relation to Russians, Ukrainians should understand Serbs in relation to the so-called democratic West led by the USA. I want peace on the territory of Ukraine as soon as possible and that people do not die anymore and that all problems are solved by compromise and diplomacy and not by war

A good video but I see that the same mistake is done here as in many other discussions when mentioning the history and atrocities the Soviet Union did during Stalin's reign. It was neither Russia nor Russians but USSR whose leader was Georgian and had a power and terror that Putin is lightyears from. Even the day he died the other leaders of the central committee were afraid of even knocking at his door to check if something had happened to him, there's a good and funny movie about this event. His right hand was another Georgian, Beria, also a well-known sadist. A lot of Russians were also executed, sent to Gulag etc during these times. Just the fact that Stalin lived in Moscow does not make it that Russians executed millions, nor that Georgia and it's people are to blame for Stalin's deeds.

I am a Slavophile. I studied Russian and Czech at university and have learned a few other Slavic languages. I have studied Russian history in depth. I have loved the Russian language, literature, art, music etc for decades. I have more friends in Russia than anywhere else although most have had to flee their homeland now. I have visited Serbia and loved it. I personally find it hard to see the open support of Serbs for "Russia" because I perceive it as support not for the Russia I love but for the tyrants who are ruling it and oppressing the ordinary Russian people. I question whether it is wise for any Serbs to believe that the feelings of friendship they have for Russia is truly shared by any Russian leaders. Russia has a long history of sending its troops against 'brother' nations when it feels it's in its interests to do so. Ukraine is hardly the first. I would ask Serbs to consider, although they have had awful experiences at the hands of NATO, whether they truly believe it is impossible for Putin to do the same if he believed it was in his interests and to consider why Tito didn't trust Russian leaders. My fear for Serbia is that it overestimates the two way nature of their brotherhood with the Russian leadership. Russian leaders have never hesitated to kill even their own people and have few qualms about attacking other countries. Ask the Finns, the East Germans, the Poles, the Hungarians, the Czechs and Slovaks, the Georgians and the Ukrainians. Serbs may be sacrificing present and future friendship with other Slavs because of their devotion to Russia simply because they will be seen as supporting Putin's regime rather than Russia itself. And I'm not sure it's worth it. Maybe supporting the Russian leadership is not actually really showing love for the Russian people themselves. Quite the opposite. If, God willing, the Russian people free themselves from the corrupt kleptocracy who rule them and establish a free Russia with a democratic government will they look back at the support Serbs gave to the leaders who oppressed them and thank them for it?

You love the Russians only when they are like in Yeltsin's time, poor, drunk, weak to stand up to the Germanic and Anglo-Saxon enemies who are gradually approaching Russia's borders with the NATO pact whose only purpose is to attack it once. It bothers you when Russia stands on its own two feet and says enough is enough to the NATO pact. If you already have something against the Russians, why didn't you build your own nationalism, with your own iconography, why did you adopt the Nazi Germanic iconography? And then you are surprised that the Serbs do not support you. If there were no Russians (1941-45), there probably wouldn't be any Slavs today. Hitler would treat them just like the Jews. If you appreciate just that fact, they wouldn't allow your extremists (Azov, Ajdar, Right Sector,...) to wave swastikas.

"never trust Muscovites" but trust Zelenskyy and NATO isn't that naive? Ukraine should stay neutral

Did he say he was Ukrainian from Lviv. The Austro-Hungarian monarchy was a very organized country, and had censuses. The last one was in 1910 and is available online. And believe it or not, there are no Ukrainians on the list. Almost the entire population of Lviv, Ternopil and Uzgorod and the surrounding area are Ruthenians. It is logical why there are no Ukrainians, because they are an ethnic subgroup of the Russian people. Because all Slavs know what the word Ukraine means - the part of the country along the border with another country. And now a man from Lviv, who changed his ethnicity three times (and also changed his religion from Orthodox to Greek Catholic) came to explain to us who the Russians are. Brother, first agree with yourself who you are. It's really amazing that he thinks that nobody reads anything and doesn't know...

I was in Ukraine and Russia. In train from Moscow to Vladivostok I met people from Ukraine, refugees? It was before this "invasion". Please explain it?

For us Serbs, Russians and Ukrainians are our brothers and sisters, we love both peoples. But the fact is that we Serbs are hoping for help from the Russians because they can protect us against the Western rulers.

As Serb we always support Ukraine same as Russia, NATO is very aggressive and mostly ''defensive'' alliance as they say. EU needs own army to make peace with Russia, not US bossing around to everyone looking mostly their interest, what is main reason of War in Ukraine... Neutrality was option and war was easily avoidable. You can hate Russia but US has huge responsibility of throwing Ukraine into war. Not to mention Zelensky guy with 0 politic experience thrown entire nation into fire...

Great video. I really appreciate a Ukrainian visiting Serbia and being straight up honest, with no ill intentions, despite all of negativity in the air. Wish you a good journey, and hope for peace in Ukraine. No sane person should support this brotherly onslaught.
