Here's guitarist Grygorii Koval and singer Marina Hovhannisyan performing an arrangement done by William Kanengiser and Grygorii Koval of the Ukrainian Lullaby (Medeival Folk Song) "Oy Khodyt' Son, Kolo Vikon". Grygorii is playing on a 2022 Youri Soroka "Templars Oak" classical guitar made with spruce top and 900-year old ancient oak (taken from the home of a Templar knight) for the back and sides. Recorded at the Guitar Salon International showroom in Santa Monica, CA.
Lyrics (English translation below):
Ой ходить сон, коло вікон.
А дрімота коло плота.
Питається сон дрімоти:
"Де ж ми будем ночувати?"
Де хатонька теплесенька,
Де дитина малесенька,
Туди підем ночувати,
Дитиноньку колисати.
Ой на кота та й воркота,

English translation:
The Dream passes by the window,

George Gershwin heard this song at a concert performance of the famous touring Ukrainian Choir directed by Alexander Koshets. In typical East European Jewish fashion he appropriated the melody and used it in the famous "Summertime" aria of his opera Pogry and Bess, never giving credit to the actual source of this song as he deigned .that was not necessary as most people wouldn't know. Compare the two songs to see what I mean. In any case, it's a beautiful lullaby and little wonder it was used by Gershwin as the opening lullaby of his opera. BTW so much appropriation was done by Jews emigrating from the Carpathian region, such as Klezmer music, that it's practically a sin of ignorance for those who fail to acknowledge this.

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼Bravo to the guitarist and to the singer and to WK. I love this effect on classical guitar: 04:26. It sounds like violins playing tremolo. And, in some way, this tone production gives the illusion of continuous sounds, which is not possible on a plucked instrument as the guitar 😉😊👍🏼👍🏼
