"Прощання слов’янки" is the Ukrainian version of a Russian march published in 1912 under the Russian Empire, later adopted by the Soviet Union, and is now widely used by the Russian Federation and many former Soviet states, which included Ukraine until the 2014 Euromaidan revolution.
I do not represent any of the ideologies, countries, or religions shown on this channel. The purpose of this channel and its content is to historically present the music at hand and does not show support for nor against the party on screen, rather a neutral preservation standpoint so that the music is not lost to time. At first I wanted to be indignant, saying “this is a Russian march, not a Ukrainian one!” And then I watched the video and shed a tear... A joint parade of Ukrainian and Russian troops, Soviet flags, no war and no anti-communism... But still, the name should have been chosen more correctly.

The song was performed by the Ukrainian Army Band, not the Russian, hence the title being Ukrainian March The description explains it

If you look at it Ukraine is essentially the heart of Russian civilisation. The original Russian nation had its capital in Kyiv, before the Mongols invaded and sacked it, destroyed the government and forced its remnants to flee to Moscow. After Ukrainian independence Ukraine and the remaining Russian provinces continued to enjoy close cultural ties, which I feel can be preserved even as Ukraine leans towards the UK, France and Germany on economic and other geopolitical affairs

Those are parade uniforms. The actual combat uniforms would have been replaced by NATO types to better distinguish the Ukrainian Army from the Russian Army, given current circumstances

Ukraine’s official reasoning was that Russian-style uniforms play into Russia’s narrative that Ukraine is the same nation as them.
